HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-17Ordinance 2005-17 Ordinance Amending Ordinance 2000-15 Adopted: April 5, 2005 Effective: April 5, 2005 TOWN OF PULASHI ORDINANCE 2005-17 ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 2000-15 WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, has caused a survey of jurisdictions to be conducted regazding whether churches are taxed for taxes on electric utilities consumed and whereas the legal parameters of this issue have also been investigated, reported on and considered and the general health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the Town of Pulaski have been considered. and Town Council has determined their interests to be consistent with the exemption of churches from the electric utility consumption tax and; ~ NOW THEREFORE, be it ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski that Ordinance 2000-15 shall be amended as follows to add to Ordinance 2000-15 § B(a)(3)(b)(ii) stating "All churches within the Town of Pulaski shall be exempt from taxes under this Ordinance." Town staff are further directed to provide the telephone account numbers of all exempted organizations to all service providers required to collect the tax as part of the notice required pursuant to subsection B of §5$.1-3812 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended. This ordinance is adopted and is effective 120 days after written notice by certified mail from the Town to the requested agent of the service provided that is required to collect the tax pursuant to §5$.1-3812(B) of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended, the 5~' day of April, 2005 by recorded vote as follows: 3effrey S.
