Resolution Asking the Assistance of Commonwealth of Virginia Senator Malfourd "Bo"
Trumbo and Delegate 'Thomas G. Baker, Jr. in Seeking Support and Funding for the
Renovation of the Pulaski Theater.
WHEREAS, the Pulaski Theater was built iA 1911 as a vaudeville house; and,
WHEREAS, the Pulaski Theater is a centerpiece in the historic Commercial District and is a
contributing structure to the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks
Register; and,
WHEREAS, generations of Pulaski residents have enjoyed shows and movies at the Pulaski
Theater and the Town is hopeful that the building can be restored so that it can be enjoyed by
future generations; and,
WHEREAS, the Town of Pulaski continues to revitalize its historic downtown in cooperation
with the Virginia Main Street program; and,
WHEREAS, the community has successfully restored the Historic Pulaski County Courthouse
in 1992 and the Pulaski Railway Station in 1994; and,
WHEREAS the community does not have a theater, civic center or meeting facility; and,
i WHEREAS, a dedicated and energetic group, "Friends of the Pulaski Theater", have
volunteered their time and support for this project.
NOW THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Towa of Pulaski,
Virginia, sitting in regular session on December 1, 1998, that Council asks the assistance of
Commonwealth of Virginia Senator Malfourd "Bo" Trumbo and Delegate Thomas G. Baker, Jr.
in seeking support and funding for the renovation of the Pulaski Theater, having estimated
redevelopment costs of $1,900,00(}.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the Town Council
of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in regulaz session, on this 1st day of December, 1998 as
follows:
