RESOLUTION NO.99-16
"OPERATION SPRUCE UP THE TOWN"
MAY, 1999
WHEREAS, the governing body of the Town of Pulaski is interested in the
health, welfare and economic well-being of its citizenry and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, the Town intends to carry out an annual campaign against visual
blight due to nuisances, trash, debris and unkempt properties; and
WHEREAS, Town Council has joined in with the Commonwealth of Virginia in
officially recognizing May as "Operation Spruce Up" in Virginia which seeks ways to
encourage good stewardship of Virginia's natural and historic resources.
WHEREAS, the Town hopes to build on the efforts of the successful Town
Beautification Committee, by utilizing volunteers from civic groups, churches and others
to assist in fix up/cleanup Saturdays on May 1~ and May 8a` with this effort being called
"Operation Spruce Up the Town."
• NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Town Council of the Town of
Pulaski, Virginia, wholeheartedly supports "Operation Spruce Up the Town" and declares
May as "Operation Spruce Up the Town Month."
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted'by the recorded vote of
the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in regular session on this 6'~
day of April, 1999, as follows:
