A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING KEEPING
THE PUBLIC LIBRARY
WITHIN THE TOWN LIMITS OF PULASKI
WHEREAS, the public library in the Town of Pulaski has proven to be a valuable and
convenient community asset, particularly to county citizens living within and adjacent to the
boundaries of the Town of Pulaski, and the western and southern portions of Pulaski County;
and
WHEREAS, the programs, personnel, and facilities of the library have rendered an
invaluable service to all county residents in the Town of Pulasla; and
WHEREAS, at its present location, the library directly serves between one-quarter and one-
third of the entire County's population that resides in the Town limits; and
WHEREAS, moving the facility to the center of the County would show no demonstrable
benefit to county residents in the western and southwestern parts of the County and further
result in a serious inconvenience or loss of service of the facility to elderly or young
residents of the County who reside within the Town, as well as others who do not have
transportation to the proposed new location;
NOW, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia
expresses its opposition to moving the library out of the Town limits, finding that such a
move would be detrimental to the welfare of the County residents living within and around
the Town of Pulaski.
