Resolution 2000-27
Expressing the Appreciation of the Pulaski Town Council and
Administration for the Service of Police Chief Herbert G. Cooley
WHEREAS, Police Chief Herb Cooley has resigned his position effective September 5,
2000; and
WHEREAS, Chief Cooley has served the Town of Pulaski with skill and dedication
since his appointment effective July 18, 1994; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure Chief Cooley has initiated and assisted significant
departmental operational improvements including installation of computers in every
office, networked, with incident based reporting; community policing and neighborhood
watch; 19 officers serving as instructors for the Department of Criminal Justice Services;
pistol range working with the National Guard and Marines; and the 12 week Citizens
Academy instituted in 1999; and

WHEREAS, Chief Cooley saw significant increases in departmental funding to include
outside sources of funding such as Federal and State grants-in-aid.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Pulaski Town Council that
appreciation and best wishes be expressed on behalf of the Town Council and
Administration to Chief Cooley for his more than six years of service.
This Resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted upon duly recorded vote of the
Town Council of the Town of Pulaski Virginia, on this, the 5~' day of September, 2000 as
follows:
