RESOLUTION 2001-19
Expressing Opposition to Closure of the Pulaski Division of the
Virginia Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Office
WHEREAS, the town of Pulaski is the county-seat of Pulaski County; and,
WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Office has
maintained an office within the Town to provide necessary services in support of the
Court System; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Corrections has proposed the termination of the
Pulaski Office and its relocation to the City of Radford; and,
WHEREAS, the Judge of the Circuit Court, the Commonwealth Attorney and the
Pulaski Town Manager are among those who have written of their concern about the
possible closure and the resulting effect on service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council expresses its
opposition to such closure and requests that the appropriate elected officials and
appointed officials be informed of this action by Town Council.
This Resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the Town
Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, on this 7`" day of August, 2001 as follows:
