HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-26 RESOLUTION 2001-26 Regarding Encouragement to Bell Atlantic to Extend Toll-Free Phone Service From 980 and 994 Exchanges to 552, 381 and Other Exchanges in Blacksburg and Christiansburg • WHEREAS, at the present time portions of Pulaski County enjoy toll-free phone service to Blacksburg and Christiansburg, while other areas including the town of Pulaski environs do not have toll-free access; and, WHEREAS, town of Pulaski business, industry, and residents require frequent contact with Blacksburg and Christiansburg exchanges due to job, business or personal interests; and, WHEREAS, long distance charges limit options for access to cell phone, pager and Internet service providers in Blacksburg or Christiansburg who do not have local access numbers available in the 980 and 994 exchanges; and, WHEREAS, the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors has also formally requested assistance in establishing toll-free service; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Bell Atlantic be requested to review this situation and assist in addressing this community need. This Resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia on this 6`~ day of November, 2001 as follows: Jeffrey S.
