WHEREAS, in accordance with the Commonwealth Transportation Board construction
allocation procedures, it is necessary that a request by resolution be received from the local
government in order that the Virginia Department of Transportation continue to program an
enhancement project in the Town of Pulaski.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia,
sitting in special session on June 17, 2003, that the Town requests the Commonwealth
Transportation Board to fund the proposed Bikeway/Walkway Project connecting First Street,
N.E. and Third Street, N.E. along an existing Norfolk-Southern spur line.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town of Pulaski hereby agrees to pay 20% of the total
cost for the construction of the Bikeway-Walkway. The Town's 20% share will come from an in
kind contribution of engineering design, labor and equipment.
If the Town of Pulaski, Virginia subsequently decides to cancel the project, the Town of Pulaski
agrees to reimburse the Virginia Department of Transportation for the total amount of the costs
expended by the Department through the date the Department is notified of such cancellation.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted this 17th day of June 2003 by recorded
vote as follows:
