RESOLUTION N0.95-24
SUPPORTING THE BRISTOL RAIL PASSENGER STUDY
WHEREAS, the Department of Rail and Public Transportation conducted a feasibility
study of rail passenger service between Washington, DC and Bristol, andlor between
Richmond and Bristol; and,
WHEREAS, phase I of said study concluded that rail passenger service between Bristol-
Washington, and Bristol-Richmond, would be feasible; and,
WHEREAS, rail service in this area would offer a feasible alternative to auto travel within
the corridor, produce a financially feasible business venture and generate increased
economic prosperity within the corridor.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,
Virginia sitting in regular session on December 5, 1995 that Town Council supports the
• Bristol Rail Passenger Study and urges the Commonwealth of Virginia Transportation
Board to authorize continuation of the Bristol Rail Passenger Study to confirm preliminary
conclusions and refine study projections.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the Town
Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in regular session, on this 5th day of
December, 1995 as follows:
