RESOLUTION NO. 96-11
"Operation Spruce Up the Town"
April, 1996
WHEREAS, the governing body of the Town of Pulaski is interested in the health, welfare
and economic well-being of its citizenry and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, the Town intends to carry out an annual campaign against visual blight due
to nuisances, trash, debris and unkempt properties; and
WHEREAS, the Town believes that the visual appearance of our Town directly influences
the opportunities for economic development of our Town; and,
WHEREAS, Town Council has joined in with the Commonwealth of Virginia in officially
recognizing April as "Operation Spruce Up" in Virginia which seeks ways to encourage good
stewardship of Virginia's natural and historic resources.
WHEREAS, the Town hopes to build on the efforts of the successful Town Beautification
Committee, by utilizing volunteers from civic groups, churches, and others to assist in fix
. up/cleanup Saturdays on Apri120 and 27 with this effort being called "Operation Spruce Up the
Town".
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,
Virginia, wholeheartedly supports "Operation Spruce Up the Town" and declares April as
"Operation Spruce Up the Town Month".
This Resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by the recorded vote of the Town
Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in regular on this 2nd day of April, 1996, as
follows:
