RESOLUTION 97-19
HONORING
BARRY I. MATHERLY
WHEREAS, Barry I. Motherly, Duector of Economic Development, is relocating to Goochland
County; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Motherly served as Director of Economic Development from August, 1995 to
August, 1997; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Motherly served all citizens of the Town with fairness, honesty, integrity,
professionalism, kindness and respect, earning the respect and caifidence of Town Council,
employees and the community; and,

WHEREAS, during his tenure, over 400 new manufacturing jobs were created within the Town,
21 new small businesses started and several expanded. He was responsible for developing regional
partnerships which doubled the tourism inquiries, received 5 national awards from the American
Economic Development Council, was instrumental in revitalizing the Main Street program and
expanded our Town festivals. In addition, a Virginia Enterprise Zane was established, entrance
signs installed, a web site created, and several grants received, including one that will foster the
creation of another 20 small businesses.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia,
sitting in regular session on July 15, 1997, that the Town Council should and hereby recognizes the
significant and lasting contributions of Mr. Motherly to the citizens of the Town of Pulaski and
commends him for his dedication and public service.
'This resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the Town Council of
the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, on this 15th day of July, 1997 as follows:
