HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-21Ordinance 2006-21 • Qrdinance Approving Zoning Amendments for Accessory Structures and a Side Setbacks in the R-2 Residential District A-ipted: July 11, 2006 1/ffective: July 11, 2006 ,~ ORDINANCE 2006-21 n LJ ORDINANCE APPROVING ZONING AMENDMENTS FOR ACCESSORY STRUCTURES AND SIDE SETBACKS IN THE R-2 RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia has considered it to be in the best interest of the public and determined it is consistent with the general welfare of the citizens to amend the zoning regulations regarding setbacks for accessory structures and side setbacks in the R-2 Residential District; and, WHEREAS, the Planning Commission and the Town Council conducted duly noticed public hearings on May 8, 2006 and June 6, 2006 wherein the comments of the public were heard and considered; and, WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia has considered the best interests of the community and its citizens and bases the following amendments to the Zoning Regulations and the Zoning Ordinance upon the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practices; and NOW THEREFORE, be it ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia sitting in regular session this 11th day of July 2006, that the Zoning Regulations of the Town of Pulaski are amended as follows: 1) The minimum side yard setback in the R-2 Residential District shall be reduced from twelve (12) feet to ten (10) feet and that Table 1 "Lot Regulations by District" in the zoning regulations shall be amended to reflect said change. • 2) That there shall be no minimum distance from main structures for accessory structures in residential districts; accessory structures in residential districts shall be no closer than five (5) feet to any lot line; and accessory structures may not cover an area greater than forty percent (40%) of the footprint of the main structure. Table 1 "Lot Regulations by District" in the zoning regulations shall be amended to reflect said change. This ordinance is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 11th day of July 2006 by the duly recorded vote of the Town Council as follows: Jeffrey S.
