Home My WebLink About2008-06• Ordinance 2008-06 Ordinance Approving A Zoning Amendment For Columbariums In Business And Residential Districts • ADOPTED: April 1, 2008 EFFECTIVE: April 1, 2008 • ORDINANCE 2008-06 ORDINANCE APPROVING A ZONING AMENDMENT FOR COLUMBARIUMS IN BUSINESS AND RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia has considered it in the best interest of the public and determined that it is consistent with the general welfare of the citizens to amend the zoning regulations to permit columbariums as a special exception in business and residential districts; and, WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia has considered the best interests of the community and it citizens and bases the following amendments to the Zoning Regulations and Zoning Ordinance upon the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practices; and, NOW, THEREFORE, be it ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in regular session this 1st day of April 2008, that Section 1100 of the Zoning Regulations be amended by the addition of the definition of a columbarium as follows: • "columbarium--a sepulchral vault or other structure lined with recesses in the walls for the storage of cinerary ums. A columbarium may be a free standing structure, part of another building, such as a mausoleum or house of worship, or may be a prefabricated structure brought in its entirety to a site." FURTHER that columbarium be added as a special exception to the designated zoning districts by the zoning amendments listed as follows: Add Section 401.3-13 "columbarium" to RR Special Exceptions. Add Section 402.3-10 "columbarium„ to R-1 Special Exceptions. Add Section 403.3-11 "columbarium" to R-2 Special Exceptions. Add Section 404.3-14 "Colurnbarium" to R-3 Special Exceptions. Add Section 405.3-12 "columbarium" to R-4 Special Exceptions. Add Section 406.3-4 "columbarium" to R-5 Special Exceptions. • Add Section 408.3-2 "Columbarium" to R-O Special Exceptions. Add Section 409.4-15 "Columbarium" to 6-1 Special Exceptions. Add Section 410.3-13 "Columbarium" to 6-2 Special Exceptions. Add Section 411.3-9 "Columbarium" to B-3 Special Exceptions. • This ordinance is effective upon adoption and is hereby adopted this 1st day of April 2008 by the duly recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia as follows: Jeffrey S.
