Home My WebLink About2008-09• Ordinance 2008-09 Amending The Amount Of Tax Levied On The Retail Sale of Cigars And Other Tobacco Products And Re-Adopting Tax Levied On Cigarettes • ADOPTED: June 3, 2008 EFFECTIVE: July 1, 2008 C: n LJ TOWN OF PULASKI, VIRGINIA ORDINANCE 2008-09 ORDINANCE AMENDING THE AMOUNT OF TAX LEVIED ON THE RETAIL SALE OF CIGARS AND OTHER TOBACCO PRODUCTS AND RE-ADOPTING TAX LEVIED ON CIGARETTES • WHEREAS, the Pulaski Town Code, Article III, Section 16-38 (d) presently imposes a tax on cigars and other tobacco products; and WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Town Council that there exists no authorization for the municipality to impose a tax on tobacco products other than cigarettes, as stated in Virginia Code Section 58.1-3840; and BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, that the Town cease collection of the tax levied on the retail sale of cigars and other tobacco products and that the rate of tax on these products be stricken from the Tobacco Products Tax Schedule currently effective; and That all ordinances and tax schedules previously adopted regarding the sale and distribution of cigarettes in the Town be re-adopted as if fully written out here; and This ordinance is effective July 1, 2008, and is hereby adopted this 3rd day of June, 2008, and is adopted by the duly recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, as follows: Jeffrey S.
