WHEREAS, Sec. 10-16 of the Town Code was amended on June 16, 1992, to
require the sounding of train signals within the Town of Pulaski during certain hours;
and,
ORDINANCE AMENDING SEC. 10-16 OF THE TOWN CODE,
REGULATING TRAIN SIGNALS

WHEREAS, the Town Council has received numerous complaints from its
citizens in reference to the sounding of train signals; and,
WHEREAS, the Town Council finds that the health, safety, and welfare of its
citizens would be best served by balancing the benefits of train signals with their
detrimental impact in populated areas;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of
Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in regular session on Aug. 3,1993 that Sec. 10-16 of the
Town Code is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 10-16. Locomotive bell, whistle, or hom-when sounded.
Every railroad company shall provide each locomotive or diesel engine passing upon its
road with a bell of ordinary size and steam whistle, or hom.
No bells, whistles, or horns are to be sounded within the Town limits of the Town of
Pulaski, Virginia, except when reasonably necessary, in the judgment of the train
operator, to warn traffic and pedestrians of the approaching train.
Nothing contained herein will excuse the operator from failing to sound such warning
when necessary.
This ordinance is effective upon adoption this 3rd day of August, 1993 and is adopted
by duly recorded vote of the Town Council as follows:
