. ORDINANCE NO. 94-28
AMENDING CHAPTER 8, ARTICLE VII
SECTION 8-257 OF THE PULASKI TOWN CODE
BE IT ORDAINED, by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in
regular session on October 4, 1994, that Chapter 8, Article VIII, Section 8-257 of the Pulaski
Town Code be, and the same hereby is amended as follows:
CHAPTER 8
ARTICLE VII. VEHICLES FOR HIRE
DIVISION 4. RATES
Section 8-257. Within Town
(a) Provided that the proper local and Virginia licenses and fees have been obtained and
paid, the following rates are hereby fixed for services rendered by Public vehicles within the
Town:
(1) For the transportation of one (1) passenger in such vehicle, the following rates within
zones, between zones and into zones shall apply:

Embarkation Point Within
Zone 1
Zone 1- or 2
Zone 1, 2, or 3
Zone 1, 2, 3, or 4
Zone 2
Zone 3
Zone 4
Destination Point Within Rate
Zone 1 $ 1.65
Zone 2 1.75
Zone 3 1.90
Zone 4 2.05
Zone 1 1.75
Zone 2 or 1 1.90
Zone 3, 2, or 1 2.05
(2) (A) In addition to the schedule of fees set out above, a flat charge of not less than
fifty cents ($0.50) and not more than seventy-five cents ($0.75) shall be added to the total
trip charge made under the aforesaid scheduled, regardless of the embarkation point or
destination point. However, where a passenger is taken to a point and a taxicab waits at
that point and takes the passenger back to the embarkation or another point, this shall be
considered as one (1) trip and only one such flat charge shall apply.
(B) Each taxicab company may set its initial flat charge in five cent ($0.05)
increments within the aforesaid range by notifying the Finance Department of the Town in
writing of its rate within five (5) days after the passage of this Ordinance. The amount of
the flat charge maybe changed from time to time by the taxicab operator in increments of
five cents ($0.05) within the aforesaid range; however, no change will be effective or
permitted until the Finance Department of the Town is notified in writing at least thirty
(30) days prior to the proposed change date.

• (3) When the embarkation point and destination point are in zones other than Zone 1, and
in traveling from the embarkation point to the destination point it is reasonably expedient
from the standpoint of time, distance and street layout or condition to travel from the
embarkation point back through Zone 1, an additional charge of twenty-five cents ($0.25)
shall be made for each zone traveled into between Zone 1 and the destination point.
(b) For the purpose of this section, travel along a street which is a zone line shall be travel
through a zone.
(c) All taxicabs shall continue to display, in a position readily seen by all passengers, a
placard listing all rates and fees charged by the taxicab carrier, whether imposed by this ordinance
or not.
(d) Unless preempted by Federal or State law, any rates charged by taxicab operators will
be charged uniformly to all of the operator's customers.
This Ordinance is effective as of October 4 , 1994 and is adopted this 4th
day of October, 1994.
