ORDINANCE N0. 91-27
Authorizing the Fire Chief to Place a Ban on Open Burning
WHEREAS, southwest Virginia and Pulaski County have experienced a
severe shortage of rainfall since August, 1991; and,
WHEREAS, the lands within the Town of Pulaski have, in the opinion
of the Town Fire Chief, become so dry as to create a serious fire hazard
that could endanger lives and property.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of
Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in special session on October 25, 1991, that:
Section 1. The Chief of the Pulaski Fire Department be, and the
same hereby is, authorized to place a ban or conditions on open burning
within the Town. Said ban shall continue until the Fire Chief has
determined that the dry conditions endangering lives and property within
the Town no longer exists. Any such ban or conditions will be effective
after a notice of the same is published one time in a newspaper of
general circulation in Pulaski.
Section 2. Any person violating an order of the Fire Chief, issued
• in accordance with this ordinance, shall be guilty of a Class I
misdemeanor.
This ordinance is effective upon adoption and is adopted this 25th
day of October, 1991, by recorded vote of the Town Council as follows:
