HomeMy WebLinkAbout92-15ORDINANCE N0. 92-15 - PERMITTING THE NEW RIVER VALLEY AGENCY ON AGING OFFICE AS • CONDITIONAL USE AT 200 RT. 99 SHOPPING CENTER • ADOPTED: October 27, 1992 EFFECTIVE: October 27, 1992 C] -10~-, • ORDINANCE N0. 92-15 ORDINANCE PERMITTING THE NEW RIVER VALLEY AGENCY ON AGING OFFICE AS CONDITIONAL USE AT 200 ROUTE 99 SHOPPING CENTER WHEREAS, the New River Valley Agency on Aging has requested permission to locate its office to 200 Route 99 Shopping Center, (Tax Map No. 072-140- 0000-144) of the Town of Pulaski, Pulaski County, Virginia; and, WHEREAS, the New River Valley Agency on Aging, established in 1975, is one of 75 Area Agencies on Aging in Virginia. It serves the Counties of Pulaski, Floyd, Giles and Montgomery and the City of Radford. The Agency is funded primarily by the Older Americans Act through the Virginia Department for the Aging. WHEREAS, the New River Valley Agency on Aging provides a nutrition program, in-home services, elder abuse prevention program, legal services, case management system (service referrals and specialized care plans) and publishes a newsletter. WHEREAS, it is currently located on the third floor of the County administration Building on Third Street. According to its director, the existing site suffers from limited accessibility and little visibility to the public. WHEREAS, the New River Valley Agency on Aging requested the conditional use to permenantly relocate from the County Administration Building to the subject site. It is handicapped accessible and will contain a kitchen, allowing the Agency to operate its Nutrition Site. The director anticipates serving additional senior citizens at the proposed site because it is more accessible and offers greater visibility to the public. WHEREAS, the subject location is zoned B-2 (General Business) and a governmental office requires a conditional use permit; and, WHEREAS, after advertisement as required by law, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on October 27, 1992 and recommended approval of the conditional use; and, WHEREAS, after advertisement as required by law, a public hearing was held by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, on October 27, 1992, wherein the plans of the applicant and the concerns of the neighbors were addressed; NOW, THEREFORE, be it ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of ~ulaski, Virginia, sitting in regular session on October 27, 1992, that he application of the New River Valley Agency on Aging to locate its office at 200 Route 99 Shopping Center (Tax Map No. 072-140-0000-144) as set forth in the application submitted to the Town, is hereby approved as 1 a conditional use, without conditions other than those imposed by the B-2 Zone and any other applicable laws and regulations. .This ordinance is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia on this 27th day of October, 1992, as follows: Charles D.
