Home My WebLink About96-05• ORDINANCE 96-5 CLOSING LEE STREET, SOUTH OF COMMERCE STREET; CLOSING AN EAST-WEST ALLEY RIGHT-OF-WAY FROM LEE STREET TO JEFFERSON AVENUE; AND CLOSING ANORTH-SOUTH ALLEY RIGHT-OF-WAY FROM SAID EAST-WEST ALLEY TO COMMERCE STREET; ALL WITHIN THE TOWN OF PULASKI, VIRGINIA • Adopted: April 2, 1996 Effective: April 2, 1996 • 309 ~ci:.,~~~ 7~ ~~~t jl • • ORDINANCE 96-5 CLOSING LEE STREET, SOUTH OF COMMERCE STREET; CLOSING AN EAST-WEST ALLEY RIGHT-OF-WAY FROM LEE STREET TO JEFFERSON AVENUE; AND CLOSING ANORTH-SOUTH ALLEY RIGHT-OF-WAY FROM SAID EAST-WEST ALLEY TO COMMERCE STREET; ALL WITHIN THE TOWN OF PULASKI, VIRGINIA WHEREAS, Renfro Corporation has applied to the Town of Pulaski to close a street right-of--way and two alley rights-of--way in the vicinity of the existing Renfro plant on Jefferson Avenue; and, WHEREAS, Renfro Corporation has specifically requested that the Town vacate the right-of--way of Lee Street located south of Commerce Street; the east-west alley right-of--way located between Lee Street and Jefferson Avenue; and the north-south alley right-of--way located between said east-west alley and Commerce Street; and, WHEREAS, the subject street and alley were closed by Town Council on May 6, 1992, however, the closing was conditioned upon construction of the plant expansion commencing within twelve (12) calendaz months of the closing; and, WHEREAS, Renfro Corporation has again requested the closures to allow for the expansion of the Renfro Plant on Jefferson Avenue; and, WHEREAS, the Town Council conducted a public hearing on Apri12, 1996 on said requests following advertisement in accordance with law, and, WHEREAS, the Town Council has previously closed other sections of Lee Street and the two alleys; and it is in the public interest to close the remaining sections of the aforesaid street and alleys subject to any utility easements that may exist in favor of the Town. NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in regular session on Apri12, 1996, that: Section 1. The right-of-way of Lee Street, south of Commerce Street, the east-west alley right-of-way between Lee Street and Jefferson Avenue, and the north-south alley right-of-way between said east-west alley and Commerce Street, in the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, as shown within Block 126 of the Officials Town of Pulaski Map, be, and the same hereby are, abandoned, closed, and vacated with title thereto if any be vested in the Town, reverting without warranty to adjacent property owners as provided by law; reserving any and all utility easements which may exist in favor of the Town of Pulaski, its successors and assigns. Section 2. This ordinance is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, on this 2nd day of April, 1996, as follows: John A.
