CLOSING UNNAMED EAST-WEST ALLEY FROM VALLEY STREET
TO MAPLE STREET; AND, ASH ALLEY RUNNING NORTH TO SOUTH
FROM PROSPECT STREET TO AN UNNAMED ALLEY (File No. 8-96)
WHEREAS, after studying the Town's system of streets and alleys to determine which streets and alleys
were unnecessary and should be closed, the Public Operations Committee of the Town Council proposed
to close an unnamed east-west alley from Valley Street to Maple Street; and Ash Alley running north to
south from Prospect Street to an unnamed alley.
WHEREAS, the Town Manager submitted the proposal to all department heads for any comments; and
WHEREAS, the Town held a public hearing on June 4, 1996 on said proposal after advertisement in
accordance with law; and
WHEREAS, it appeazs that the portion of the unnamed east-west alley from Valley Street to Maple Street;
and Ash Alley running north to south from Prospect Street to an unnamed alley under consideration has
never been opened and that due to the topography it would not be possible to open said right-of--way in a
cost effective manner and the Town Council finds that it is in the best interest of the Town and its citizens
to close and vacate the said right of way; and
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, sitting in
regulaz session on June 4, 1996, that the unnamed east-west alley from Valley Street to Maple Street; and
Ash Alley running north to south from Prospect Street to an unnamed alley is hereby abandoned, closed,
and vacated with title thereto if any be vested in the Town, being hereby quitclaimed without warranty
• from the centerline to adjacent property owners on each respective side; reserving, any and all utility or
other easements which may exist in favor of the Town of Pulaski, its successors and assigns.
There aze EXCLUDED from this abandonment and quitclaim and RESERVED by the Town, any and all
utility or other easements that may exist in favor of the town, its successors or assigns. In particulaz, the
Town reserves a drainage easement for any natural or existing drainage course that runs across said right
of way and alleys.
This Ordinance is effective upon adoption and is adopted by recorded vote of the Town Council of the
Town of Pulaski, Virginia, on this 4th day of June, 1996, as follows:
