The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Councilman Worrell led the Pledge of Allegiance and Councilman Neblett gave the Invocation.
After roll call, Councilman Stewart advised that he would like to add an item under new business: ceding abandoned property.
Councilman Stewart made a motion to adopt Consent Agenda consisting of:
1. Consideration of Minutes of April 27, 1999
2. Adoption of Ordinance 99-6, regarding purchasing health insurance.
3. Adoption of Resolution 99-19, initiating zoning amendment consideration: deletion of provisions concerning yard sales.
Next, Councilman Neblett summarized for Council the Caseknife and Southside Water System improvements including grant application, scheduling and funding.
Next item was Resolution 99-20 honoring Thomas G. “Tommy” Baker.
Councilwoman Steger made a motion to adopt Resolution 99-20, honoring Thomas G. “Tommy” Baker, seconded by Councilman Neblett and carried on the following recorded vote:

Bettye H. Steger - Aye Charles W. Stewart, Jr. - Aye
Councilman Stewart advised that shelving, brackets, etc. are stored in the Maple Shade Plaza. During the Community Yard Sale an offer was received to purchase these items. Mr. Stewart
made a motion to cede these items to the Community Yard Sale for their sale and the proceeds to go to the Community Yard Sale, seconded by Councilwoman Mitchell and carried on the following
recorded vote:

Rebecca English has requested the use of the Maple Shade Plaza for a yard sale to benefit the Humane Society to be held in August.
After discussion, Councilman Weddle made a motion to allow the use of the Maple Shade Plaza for a yard sale to benefit the Humane Society, pending coordination with the Town and the
existing tenants, seconded by Councilwoman Steger and carried on voice vote.
Mr. Combiths advised Council that since the last meeting, the Town has received correspondence from Mrs. English and the Downtown Pulaski, Inc organization requesting that they be given
more data and opportunity for input regarding type and timing of sidewalk replacement/repair. Staff requested 30 days for research, meetings, etc. and would then return to Council with
an update. Council granted the request.
Councilwoman Steger briefed Council on the Town Clean Up held May 1. She thanked those who participated and completed the sign-up sheets:

Mrs. Steger advised Council that the results of their drive around town looking for trash produced little need for trash to be picked up, which shows definite improvement in the Town.
Accordingly, Councilwoman Steger made a motion to cancel the May 8, 1999 Clean-Up and schedule one instead for late August, seconded by Councilman Weddle and carried on voice vote.
Mayor Johnston advised Council of meetings possibly of interest to Council and deadlines for sign up.
Councilman Weddle made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Councilman Neblett and carried.
