Following roll call, Vice Mayor Steger called on Town Manager Elander to begin the insurance work session. Mr. Elander summarized the insurance proposals that he had received. He advised that following an extensive solicitation process requesting insurance proposals for town employees, and subsequent study of those proposals, he proposes going with the Cost Alliance with Dental plan. He advised that this plan provides an excellent program of benefits including a high option dental and does so at an attractive cost compared to other plans. He advised that the plan requires a somewhat higher co-pay each time a service is used, compared to our current insurance and requires a “gate keeper” primary care physician. He advised that most doctor’s and hospitals in our area are included in the Cost Alliance Directory. Employees will also be allowed the option of choosing one of two other insurance companies, with the employee paying the difference in the premium: Key Advantage Low Option Dental would cost the employee an additional $14 a month. Key Advantage Expanded High Option Dental would cost the employee an additional $21 per month.
