HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-05-02 (special)Minutes of the Town Council meeting held March 5, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Council meeting room in the Municipal Building. There were present: Charles W. Stewart, Jr., Mayor Council Members: Jeffrey S. Worrell, Pauline G. Mitchell, E. G. Black, Jr., Bettye H. Steger, Kenneth M. Fleenor, Lane R. Penn Absent/Excused: Daniel Talbert, Jr., James M. Neblett, Jr. Staff: Gary C. Elander, Town Manager Patricia Cruise, Clerk of Council Randy Eley, Town Attorney Sherry Boyd, Finance Director Mayor Stewart called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m. He advised that the meeting had been called to address bids for a 3 million dollar bond proposal. He advised that the bids would be received via conference call and fax. He asked Mr. Webster Day of Wetherington, Melchionna, Terry, Day & Ammar to address Council. Mr. Day advised that the bids would be received via fax and phone and relayed via conference call to Council. Following receipt of the bids and announcement of low bid, Council would award the bid and adopt Resolution 2002-10, providing for the form, details and payment of $3,000,000 general obligation public improvement bonds, series of 2002. Following announcement of the low bid by Morgan Keegan, Councilman Black made a motion to adopt Resolution 2002-10, providing for the form, details and payment of $3,000,000 general obligation public improvement bonds, series of 2002, of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, previously authorized, and authorizing the award thereof, the payment of a bond anticipation note and certain related actions with the following changes: Insert the company name: Morgan Keegan into Attachment A and attach to the Resolution. Change the last page to read special called meeting. Motion was seconded by Councilman Penn and carried on the following recorded vote: Jeffrey S. Worrell - Aye Bettye H. Steger - Aye Pauline G. Mitchell - Aye James M. Neblett, Jr. - Absent Daniel Talbert, Jr. - Absent Kenneth M. Fleenor - Aye E. G. Black, Jr. - Aye Lane R. Penn - Aye There being no further business, meeting adjourned on motion by Councilwoman Steger, seconded by Councilman Penn and carried on voice vote.
