Under Public Comments, Sybil Atkinson addressed Council requesting that the Town purchase the AEP building. She opined that it would show leadership by taking the first step in creating
a new type of business center.
Mr. Hawley expressed appreciation to Council for looking at the issue and advised that staff recommendation was to purchase the building and accept the EDA grant.
Mayor Stewart reviewed the availability of funds both through UDAG and the EDA grant and potential uses for the building. Following his comments, he requested a motion from Council
to proceed with the purchase of the AEP building and to accept the EDA grant.
There being no motion forthcoming, the activity stopped.
There being no further business, meeting adjourned on motion by Councilwoman Steger, seconded by Councilman Bolen and carried.
