M. Install a permanent g-umping station on Featk Creek in the vicinity of Southwest Motor Company at a cost of two to three thousand dollars. 2. Purchase portable pumps at an approximate cost of X2,500.00. _ 3. Proce~rd with bond_ issue which would include outfall line at a cost of approximately ~71,000.00;- 4. Proeeo-d with the- construction of the outfall line only as included in the-~iiey & 1Milson Report without waiting for the Bond issue Program. The-outfall line would cost about five to six thousand dollars more if done outside of the entire program. 5. An irrarted3ate solution that would diro-ctly take care of Jefferson Mills would be to purchase a small pump unit at an installed cost of ~2,520.00.~ Mr. Ha~rnran them stated that since Jefferson Mills pays a sewerage-bill Brach gear and because of the amount of taxes and wages that ara~ paid by them that he feels it is the duty of the Town to maintain the sewer system. Mayor Jackson assured them that the Town was w®11 a*are of the situation and that they were in sympathy with Jefferson Mills but that Jefferson Mills could not be considered singlely because of the overall situation. On motion of l~f'. M.Farmer, seconded by C. T. Brook~nan, it was unanimously RESOLVED, that, the matter of Jefferson Mills sewerage systam be discussed furthar at the next meeting of Council on April 19. The Town Manager stated that Mr. E. H. Ruehl was here on March 34, making a study of amount of_work involved in revising his prior report on annexation.' The Town Managar advised that the• Town would do certain work on the report in order to reduce the cost. C~t~cil Minutes Cont~d Pulaski, Virginia, April 5, 1955' The Town Manager read a letter he had reeerived fross Mr. F. A. +Carboine with regard to his- recent visit to Lov~,g Field. Mr. Carboine stated that due to the low visibility! on the date" of his visit that he--wasunable to make an app~isal of the -field until his return to his office. After making a study of the United States Creological Survey Sheet eove~.ng the Pulaski area h® feels that the present airport will ac~pt itself to serve the needs of the Pulaski area for the fore seeable future. whereupon, the Council recommended that t~.e Town Manager secure the cost of a survey of the field at his later convenience. The Town Manager stated that he had visited the prop~lsed recreation area behind the hospital with the Recreation Co~ntttee and that there was an area of 170 by 1'70' which could be "`~ utilized by small children for soft ball and other forms off' recreation. Councilman J. R. Martin, Chairman of the Recreation Committee made a recommendation that the lot be leveled ane used as additional recreation area. Upon motion of 11~.A. Larson, seconded by I.R. Carper, brit was unanimously RESOLVED, that the 170 x 17©t area on 10th Street ~~ ,; ~~ behind the hospital be graded and planted with grass to bed' used as additional recreation area. Ralph .Studebaker, Director of Recreation, made a fe~ brief comments to Council about the recreation program for; the past calendar year. He felt that tha hinter program h~ki been very successful and emphasized that his program was cc~h- tinuing to expand. Mapor Jackson asked that the Councilmen be thinking ; about Clean-Up Reek and that he would like for them to havek: r some proposals ready for the next Council meeting.. a' At the conclusion of the meeting Council then opened ,'; the meeting to any questions which the Youth Council would r t ~1^w^~ ~..r ~~~~ Council Minutes Cont~d Pulaski, Va.
