Pulaski, Va., May 24, 1955
The minutesof a special meeting; of the Town Council
of the Tovrn of Pulaski, Virginia, held on T~4ay 24, 1955, at
4 p.m. in the Board of Director's k~oom at the Pulaski T?atibnal
Bank.
There were pr esent:
- Mayor C,. V. Jackson, presiding.
Councilmen; -I. R. Carper, M. E. Lester, C. T. Brok-
man, J. R. n,~ actin, '~i . A. Larson and F.
V'lhite.-
Also present; Town r2 ana,ger: Julian F. Hirst
Town Attorney; Garnett S. r~2oore
Visitors: Bi11y B. Flint, reporter for the South~lest
Times
Councilman ll~t". M.Farmer had previously requested t4~
be excused from the meeting.
The ~,layor stated- that the special meeting of the ''
Town Council had been called in accordance with the action-of
the Council at the regular meeting on May 17, 1955, for thl
purpose of receiving and considering the proposed bud~?et fbir
the Town of Pulaski for the fiscal- year 1955-56.
In the absence of the Clerk~of the Council, on motion
of J. R. Martin, seconded by I.R. Carper, it was unanimously
RESaLVEV, that the Town "tanager be designated as
Clerk to record the minutes of this special meeting.
The Town Manager advised that copies of the proposed
budget for the fiscal ,year 1955-57 had been distributed to
members of the Council by personal service on ~![ay 20, 1955
He then proceeded to outline the scope of the budget, the ,
method of preparation and the contents.
The Council after due consideration entered into
discussion of the outlay expenditures under the General Fu d.
A?o definite decisions were reached by the Council as to an of
the particular items contained in the budget.
It was agreed by all members present that an other~~ublic
meeting would be held at 4 p.m., May 31, 1955, at the same~ocation.
The meeting adjourned at 6:05 p.m.
