At 4 p. m. in the Directors Room of the Pctlaski National Bank. There were presents Mayor C. V. Jackson, Presiding Councilmen: I. R. Carper, W. S. Cummings: F. L. Carrico, W. A. Larson, ;il.. E. Lemons, W. F. White, W. H. Wysor, Jr. Also presents Town Managers T. B. Noland Clerks Audrey E. Kingrea Director of Pabl.ic Works s H. C. Jackson Visitors: Rev. John V. Atkins Mrs. C. 0. Powers Rev. W. S. Golden Evelyn S. Hall Billy B. Flint The meeting was opened with a prayer by the Rev. John Atkins of the First Christian Church. Mrs. C. 0. Powers addressed the Council briefly. Mayor C. V. Jackson gave a progress report on New River Vall~r Airport. On motion of W."F. White, seconded by W. A. Larson: it was ttnanimoualy RESOLVI~, that the proposed map prepared by R. L. Mathewsa Surveyors of new annexation lines be accepted; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVSt3s that Mr. Mathews proceed with the final map aixi that same upon completion be returned to the Council for approval. The sewer applications of Mrs. Mike Linkous and Mrs. Sarah Jacobson for sewer lines between 16th and 17th Streets were denied at this time on recommendation of H. C. Jackson inasmuch as this line is included in the proposed sewer line extension program to be financed by the proposed bond issue. Councilman I. R. Carper: Chairman of the Fluoridation Committee, stated it was the recomsaendation of his committee that the Town not sell Pulaski Hospital ark portion of the land adjacent to the Filter Plant. On motion of I. R. Carper, seconded by A. E. Lemons, it was unanimously RE30LVEDs that whereas it would detract from the appearance of the Filter Plant and further that the Town proposes to build .- r Co~cil Minutes coated. Palaski, Ya. 4=00 p.m. Sept. 4,1956 a chemical storage building adjacent to the Filter Plant of the same architectural design as the Filter Plant, ani since the State Health Department had advised having the Hospital closer to the Filter Plant, the Council hereby declines sale to the Palaski Hospital of ar4r portion of the lot on which the Filter Plant is located. Cummings - aye BE IT RffiOLYED, that an additional $1,000.00 be appropriated from the Water Fund for the construction of cheffii.cal Storage building at the Filter Plant. On motion duly made by W. A. Larson, seconded ~ W. F. iihite, it was unanimously RESOLVED, that construction of the chemical storage b:ii.lding be, commenced and that the Tot~tn Manager a~ Director of Public Works are requested to investigate new and used fluoridation equipment. Cummings - ape BE IT RESOLVED, that the swa of $282.50 ~ hereby authorized to be paid to H. C~ Jackson to compensate for his services as Acting Town Manager. The matter of building permit for W. 0. Leftwich for the purpose of covering s stream through his property on Va11gy Street ~ir~--~ ry Council Minutes corYt~d. Ptalaski Va. 4x00 ';' ~.~. ~ r s p.m. Sept. 4, 1956 , was referred to the Town Attorney and the Town Manager for recommendation. On motion duly made by Y. A. Larson, seconded by A. E. Lemons, it was unanimously RESOLVED, that two street lights be placed ixt Longview Court. - - On motion-duly made-by I. R. Carper, seconded by W. A. Larson, it was unanimously RESOLVED that one street light be removed from the corner of Sixth Street aril Washington.Avenue North and placed in the center of the block between Fifth and Sixth Streets on North Washington Avenue. Councilman Larson read a letter received by him from Mr. Earl G. Hill of Jefferson Mi11s expressing appreciation for the use of the nsv municipal building for storage purposes. Councilman Larson brought to the attention of Council a situation existing in East Pulaski of cars creating excess noise° when leaving an eating establi.slmsnt. The Police Department was instructed to make an effort to eliminate the situation. The Town Manager was directed to endeavor to collect ont- standing garbage collection f ees.
