Council Minutes
Pulaski, Va. Feb. 26,1957 ~- p.m•
Minutes of the special meeting of the Town Council
of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, held on the 26th day of
Feb ruary, 1957, at 4 p. m. in the Municipal office.
There were present: Mayor C. V. Jackson, presiding.
Councilmen: W. A. Larson, A. E. Lemons, J. R.
` Martin, W. H. Wysor, F. L. Carrico
and W. S. Cummings.
Also pr. esent: Town Manager: T. B. Noland
Clerk: Audrey F. Kingrea
Town Attorney: Garnett S. Moore
Visitors: Carl E. McATew
Evelyn S. Hall, Reporter
The meeting was opened with a prayer by the Town
Manager.
Mayor Jackson stated this special meeting was
called in accordance with action at last meeting rrimarily
'to discuss water and sewer rates.
Mr. Carl E. Mc New appeared before Council with
request for a building permit for a chicken house immediately
behind his residence on Henry Avenue.
On motion of A. E. Lemons, seconded by W. S.
Cummings, it was unanimously
RESOLVED that a building permit be issued to Mr.
Mc New with the provision that it will be operated so as
not to create a nuisance.
The Town Manager presented to the Council a pro-
posal from Mrs. Kate Hight to sell to the Town three lots
on Seventeenth Street at a cost of X500.00 each. These
lots adjoin Oakwood Cemetery and in addition to providing
additional burial plots, would. further provide another
means of ingress and egress at the cemetery.
On motion of J. R. Martin, seconded by W. A.
Larson, it was unanimously
RESOLVED, that Mayor Jackson appoint a committee
to investigate the offer of Mrs. Hight.
Mayor Jackson appointed Councilmen Cummings,
Carrico and Carper to look into the above matter.
The remainder of the meeting was devoted to a
discussion of the water and sewer rate structure. Pending further
study no action was taken.
