HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-26-534 F~~ZII SPECIAL MEET IN(3 PRESENT Council Minutes - Pulaski,Va., June 26, 1953 A spacial meeting of -the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski,Virginia was held in the Municipal Building at 1 p.m., June 26, 1953. There were present:- Julian F. Hirst Louise D . Logan Garnett S. Moore C.N.TESTER The Mayor stated that this special meeting 3N$DIVI3I0`N mater Ee was called for the purpose of considering the action of Seger Facilities`the Town with regard to the extension of water and sewer facilities to the proposed C. N. Taster Subdivision, located on Graham Street, Extended, and south of Fifth Street, S.E. The Tdwn Manager advised Council that Mr. Tester desired to install or have installed adequat® water and sewer lines to serve his proposed subdivision, and that h® requested financial assistance on the part of the Town in ~ this undertaking. Mayor C. V. Jackson, presiding Councilmen; I. R. Carper, 0. 0. Crowell, J. L. Keeling, W. A. Larson, F. W'. Marshall, J. R. Martin, Absent: J.C. Crumble y,Jr., W.F. White. Also present; Town Manager: Clerk; Town Attorney : The Council was advised that the estimated cost for water lines would be X2,238.00 and would consist of a 6° line connecting to the present Town system on Fifth Street, S.E., thence extending southward on Graham Street to the upper road of the subdivision and thence a 2" line westward along this road. Council further was advised that the estimated cost of a sewer line would be ~1, 521.51 and would eons is t of a 6~ line connecting t o the Town collection system on 5th Street, S.E., thence extending southward along Graham Street and westward along the new upper road. The Town Manager reported on several proposals that had been made in conversation with Mr. Tester with regard to 3oint sharing of the cost, The Council considered the potential advantage of a sewer line in the subdivision in anticipation of possible street extension to Bunts Street. Pulaski, Va., June 26, x.953 Mr. Tester should bear the entire cost off' the water extensio~l as directed above and that the sewer extension should fall with~n the intent of the sewer extension policy adopted by the Council n August, 1952, in which case the Town would bear a cost based~on anticipated ten year amortization of the line, using the figure of _ 21 lots at X5.00 per lot per year. This proposal, the Town Manager stated, would be, he Pelt, acceptable to Mr. Tester,uwith the understanding that connection fees for both water and seder would be in addition to the above costs. On motion duly made by J. R. Martin, seconded by I. R. Carper, it was unanimously SEDER LINE RESOLVED, that there be appropriated from the Gen~Iral APPRt'~VED Fund the amount of One Thousand Five Hundred Twenty-One Doll~irs and Fifty Cents 01,521.50) for construction of a sewer Iine~in the C. N. Tester Subdivision, which line the Town shall construct, with the understanding that Mr. Tester would reimburse the Twn all actual costs exceeding X1,050.00, which is determined to~be the amortization of the line at 5.00 per year for 21 lots, qnd WATER LINT Be It Further Resolved, that there be appropriate the APPRQVED sum of X2,238.00 from the Water Fund fob construction of water line in the C.
