Fulsaki, Virginia,May 1$, 1954.
The regular monthly meetis:g of the Town Council of the
Town of Pulaski, Virginia was held in the Municipal Building
on May 18, 1954 at 4 p.m.
PRESENT There were present:
Mayor C. V. Jackson, presiding

MINUTES The Minutes of the regular meeting held May 4, 1954 were
read anti approved. -

Council was advised tlfat forty-tour owners were against allowing
rates to be Dirt, thus for the amendment, and five owners were for

Fixed Carper, it was unanimously resolved, and the following ordinance wan

APPROVED ON FEBRQARY 18, 194.7.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Tows of Pulaski,
Virginia, that paragraph three (3) of Section Twenty Four (2l~.)
of the Taxicab Ordinance heretofore adopted on February 18, 1947
be and the same is hereby attended, as follows:
"Provided the proper State license fees have been paid
therefor, as required by the Code of Virginia, the following rates
are hereby fixed for services rendered by public vehicles, taxicabs
and for hire motor vehicles within the corporate limit8 of the Town
of Pulaski."
This amendment shall beccm:e effective from date of passage.

TAXI CAB LIMIT RESOLVED, that as vacancies occur in the number of taxicabs i~

operation under the present limit of fifty there shall be no new eertifeates
of public convenience and necessity granted until the newly eatablished~ilimit
of forty is reached, which new limit of forty certificates i8 hereby
established.

ORDINANCE advised that local grocers supplied with a Dopy of the proposed ordinan~{e
were in general agreeaent with same and that the matter was presently alaitiag
advise from the State Division of Dairy & Foods, Richmond, Virginia, and the
President of the Merchants Ca®aittee of the Pulaski County Chamber of Cree,
both of whoa were f~rniahed copies.

On motion duly made by W. F. White, seconded by J. C. Crumble~t,

RESOLVED, that the Town shall install curb and gaffer fora
distance of 438' south of 16th Street, on the Ee,at side of Prospect Ave~uee

at an estimated cost of ~459.tN~, contingent upon the property owners ash(
signing the petition bearing one-half of the cost, and

WEST MAIN The Town Manager reported that the West Main Street

was again being considered and property owners involved had bees
contacted by letter to determine the extent to which they would
participate in providing a street in the section, based~on a reoent
survey by L. H. Millirons. .
TRAFFIC IMP. The Town Manager reported that improvements on the inter-

seotion at Fifth & Washington began May 10, and that Mr. H.W. Huff,
dr., had been furnished with a map copy outlining planned improvement,
but had indicated meither agreement nor disagreement, having forwarded
same to the gsso Standard Oil Company.
PUMPINQ The Mayor called Counoil~s attention to the matter of a

developments on same.
