SFECIAL A special meeting of the Town Council of the Town
MEETIN G
of Pulaski, Virginia was held in the ~4unicipal Building at
4 p.m., 'December 15, 1954.
There were present:
PRESENT Mayor C. V~ Jackson, presiding
Councilmen: C. T. Brookman, I. R. Carper,
0. 0. Crowell, ~. M. Farmer,
W. A. Larson, M. E. Lester
Absent: J. it. Martin, ~. F. White
Also present;
Town Manager; Julian F. Hirst
Town Attarnsy;~Garnett S. Moore
In the absence of the Town Clerk, on motion duly
made by W. A. Larson, seconded by I. R. Carper, it was
unanimously
RESOLVED, that the Town Manager be designated as
Clerk of the meeting for the purpose of recording the
Minutes .
The Council discussed a resume prepared by the

~'ATER PETITIONS Town Manager of outstanding water petitions and other water
extensions considered desirable. Attention was noted to
the inclusion of X3,000.00 in the 1954-55 budget for water
extensions, and it was the general consensus of Council that
this appropriation should be increased in order that a
larger number of extensions could be constructed within the
current budget year.
Those extensions of water service considered by
the Council included Highland Terrace, Lottier Bottom,
Crestline Drive, Mt. Olivet Road, Fifth Street, S.E.,
including Heron and Birch Streets, and Case Knife Ridg®.
Also, fire hydrants on Mashburn Avenue, Short Street and
Fayette Street.
On,motion duly made by W. M. FARMER, seconded by
W. A. CARSON, it was unanimously
RESOLVID, that the Town Manager and Director of
Public Works shall submit at the next Council meeting their
recommendations of extensions to be undertaken over a three

year period with those considered most important or nece nary

REPORT
_ man of, the Annexation _Committee, reported that a map had been
prepared and submitted to the committee members indicating the
various lines that had been under consideration. It was~the
consensus of the Council that the annexation committee st$~uld
continue with its work and that active study should be then
by the Council of the sewerage program so far as it immediately
pertains to the corporate limits, with the intention tha~i the
extensions outside of the corporate limits will be considered
along with annexation when the annexation report is received
from the committee. `.

AIRPdRT' The Town Manager-reported in regard to an appe~ance
that he and Mr. James ~'. Steger had made before the Washington
Airspace Subcommittee in Washington on December 14, withxegard
to the continuation of Federal maintenance of lighting f~ycil-
ities at Loving Field. -He indicated that the Committee i~ad
postponed irrunediate definite action on the matter that, tecause
of contacts made in Washington, relative to the airport, the
felt the trip had been very beneficial.
