On motion duly made by G. R. Steger, second by J. R. Martin, it was unanimously APPLICATIONS RESOLVED, that the following applications f FOR BUILDING PERMITS building permits be approved; To John P. Lucado for one s r'9' brick dwelling corner of 2nd St ., S .E . & Madison 1lvenue, so h, estimated 8,000.00; To Mrs. Clara K. Ballinger (by Mrs.~K . Sharp) for remodeling porch at 504 Valley Street, estimate to cost 25.00; To Robert T. Bailey, and it was decided that s contract similar to the one agreed upon for the Pulaski Counts would be acceptable. However, it was decided that the :painting of advertising signs on the right field fence would not be permitted. On motion duly made by J. R. Martin, seconded by I. R. Carper, it was unanimously CALFEEIPARKNTS RESCLVED, that there be a charge, of 20.00 for each of the advertisements on the wood fence adjacent to the scoreboard,, for the current season, such funds to be credited to the General Fund revenue of the Town. LETTER GWYN At letter from the Guynn Distributing Company DIS.COMPANY of Marion, Virginia, commending the Town was read. LETTER WYTHE A letter from the Wythe County News, solici- C OUNTY NEWS ting advertisements for g centenniel issue concerning the Wytheville Fire Department was read. YMCA PROGRAM The matter of payment to Larry Morris for LARRY MORF~.IS , CLAIM money lost at the Monticello Club, claimed to have been checked with Ralph Haney, employee of the Town Recreation Oommission, was presented, and was discussed at length. On motion duly made by G. R. Steger, seconded by I. R. Carper, it was unanimously , RESOLVED, that the claim of Larry Morris for $2:6.00 for reimbursement of funds claimed to have been lost be disallowed. AMENDMENT LICENSE TAX On motion duly made by W. D. Macgill, Jr ., ORDINANCE seconded by G. R.' Saeger, and carried by a unanimous vote, the following ordinance was adopted; BE IT ORDAINED that the License Tax Ordinance adopted March 13, 1951, Chapter 1, License Tax Rate, section 51, Public IItilities, paragraph covering motor vehicle carriers be amended to provide a license tax of b-Fifth (1/5~) cent per mile for each mile operated within tha Town for any vehicle weighing five-thousand pounda.or less, instead of one -fourth (1~4¢) cent per mile, this rate being in accordance with the Code of Virginia. It appeared that only the axes. since 1948 have been filed with the Clerk of the County, a some of the residents of prior years had paid taxes. DIAGONAL The matter of diagonal parking in front of the PARKhNG PULASKI Pulaski Hospital, Inc. on Randolph Avenue was discussed. It HOSPITAL,INC. was reported that the Virginia Department of Highways had established a policy concerning approving maintenance funds on primary roads where diagonal parking was permitted.
