PRESENT There were present: Mayor H. R. Imbo den, presiding Councilmen: I. R. Carper, 0. 0. Crowell, E. T. Painter, ~.D.Macgill,Jr., J. R. Martin, G. R. Steger, ~It.F.Mhite. Absent: T. F. lNirt. Council to inquire as to what improvements were proposed IMPROV. in the vicinity of Fifth Street, S. Id., east oP Baskerville, for water, a®wer and streets.. It was stated that he intended to build and desired to d®termine what facilities souls be expected. PETITION 10.11-13 ~~ERLane FACILITIES RESOLVED, that the purchase of a used Ct3 Cletrae tractor from the Highway Machinery•& Supply Company. in the amount of 1,000.00, f.o.b. Richm©nd, Virginia, be approved, to be used for maintenance on present Town-owm d bull.doser. The matter of a storm drain on Newborn Road at a new house built by Fred A. Jacks©a was discussed, the Town Attorney to report what action _ the Town might take to require a more substantial drain systeffi, inasmuch as a Town storm Dewar connects with the one on private property. . A petition from residents on Tenth, Eleventh, Thirteenth street Extensions and Hurd Lane, requesting sewer facilities, was presented by Charles C. Black. On motion duly made by ~. Painter, it was unaaimouslg RESOLVED, that the regular scheduled Council meeting to beheld September 18, 1951 be postphoned to September 20, 1951,.in order to avoid cAnfliat with th® League of Virginia Municipalitiest Convention. Nf. F. MRhite, as ChajLrmaa of the Board of Trustees for Oakwood C®metery Association, stated that. the association was contacting the lot owners i~ Oakwood Cemetery and were attempting to formulate plans for the operation of the cemetery by the Directors. Pulaski, Va., Sept. 4, 1951 Washington Avenue near Fifth Street, adjacent his property. It was stated that this alley is a private alley and not public right-of-way. Mr. E. T. Painter stated he had received several complaints regarding the matter of parking at 2nd Street and Floyd Avenue, S.E., particularly blocking the street, so as to prevent the residents on Floyd Avenue between 1st and 2nd Street from having suitable acces$ to the street. It was suggested that this entrance .might be widened, and also, that th® parties parking so as to block the street b® advised that this should be discontinued, The matter of a drainage complaint at the Pauline Church of Christ on Fifth Street and 1l~alnut Avenu® was referred t ® the Street Committee and the Town Managers on motion duly made by X'. F'. White, second®d by G. R. Steger and unanimously carri®d. The matter of covering the open drain ditch on South Washington Avenue, west side, near First Street S.W, was discussed, and the Town, Manager was requested to present an estimate of the Bost of a reinforced concrete slab.
