PR©POSAL The following proposal on Peak Creek in the RE.PEAK CREEK Town of Pulaski, Virginia, prepared by the Planning Commission, was read to the Council: A PROPOSAL CONCERNING PEAR CREEK IN TEE TOIPIN OF PULASK I, VIR GINIA It is c®ntemplated by the Planning Commisaiom of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia that some recommendation concerning the utilization of the apses now occupied by Peak Creek in the Town of Pulaski will b® made as a part of the *Master Plan" oP the said Commission at a later • date. As a temporary and interim suggestion it is proposed that the Town Council immediately take steps to insure that a V-shaped channel be dug down the center of a present creek bed so as to confine flowage of P®ak Creek to the center section of the present creek bed. Further, that the channel extend from the beginning of the rock walls on the w®st side of tows to " the end of the rock walls on the-east aide of town. Further, that the channel b® accurately surveyed and ®xeuvated in a straight line dews the present cr®ek bed,. and that all drains be either piped or channeled so as to emptT into the new center channel. Pulaski, Va., Oct. lg, 1951 owner understands and agrees that, in event there is constructed at later date a sidewalk on the Right-of -way, there will be no objection to this and the property owner will terminate the use of any part of the driveway being used on the Towns Right-of-way. On motion duly made by T. F. Wirt, seconded by E. T. Painter, tt was unanimously RESOLVED, that the building permit application of Ethel J. Carter for cinder block garage adjacent to property at 317 Maple Street, S. W., estimated X150.00 be approved with the stipulation that the Town assumes no responsibility for providing driveway approach, and that this construction shall not interfere with the pr®- posed bridge to be constructed by the Town. On motion duly made by T. F. Wirt, seconded by W. Macgill, Jr., carried by a vote of 7-1, i t was RESOLVED; that Floyd Avenue from~First to Second Streets, S. 1~., be repaired with creek gravel and t~therwise placed in as good a condition as presently possible, with grading and widening to eighteefs foot width. On motion duly made by G. R. Steger, seconded by $. T. Painter, it was unanimously RESOLVED, that the Town Manager prepare an estimate of cost on both concrete and asphalt for filling b®tw®®n street and proposed curb and Butt®r on tris north side of Seventh Street. SXTEN3IOR The request of Mr. E. L. Welch for water PROPERTY extension of approximately two hundred feet of two-inch .wat®r line to serve his pr©perty was presented. On motion duly made by W. F. Carper, it was unanimously RESOLVID, that an amount of Three Hundred CIRCIIIT FOR PROGRBSSIVS (300.00) Dollars be appr©priated Prom the General Funds TRAFFIC SIaRALS for Appalachian Electric Power Company circuit to provid® for a control line to connect all of the signals in a progressive movement. ~R CREW T Y~ei re was some discussion o f prop os al on ?OP03AL Peak Creek submitted by the Planning Commission, and it was considered that improvements as outlined in the proposal would be, owing to their nature, of long term consideration and discussion. The Town Attorney reported that he had reviewed the first draft of ordinances prepared by Hermit V, Rooke, with exception of legal considerations, and would turn same over to the Town Manager within a few days for review. He advised that many ordinances which were needed had been omitted. .H.ItCBRft't3 A letter from H. H. Roberts, addressed t1~T:~:F'DR - - OUTI~ to the Mayor, and incorporating a letter Prom Genera.l- Anderson, of the State Highway Department, was read, advising that the Town of Pulaski could, by ordinanco~ require trucks of certain gross weight capacity to be rerouted around Pulaski, as a safety precaution, in that heavy trucks coming oZ'f of ~raper+ s Mountain could present a safety hazard. A delegation of property owners, representing a few of the ones who signed petition for sewer west of Randolph Avenue in the vicinity between 10th and 13th Streets, appeared before 'the Council, to determine why the sewers could not be installed at the present time. They were advised of pr®sent pending work, including the water. improvement project, which, owing to the amount of cost involved, prohibited present consideration of the requested project until later when these committments have been completed.
