HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-19-52Council Minutes ~i ~~ ~, Pulasl~;i, Va., February l~~ 1952 SPECIAL MEETING A special meeting of the Town Council of the Tovttl of Pulaski, Virginia was held in the Munieiral Building at 4 p.m.~b February 19, 1952. 1 PRESENT There were present: _ Mayor H.R. Imboden, presiding Councilmen: I.R.Carper, O.O.Crowell,W.D.Macgi11,~1Tr., J.R.Martin, E.T~Painter,T.F.~irt. Absent: G.R.Steger, W.F.~Vhite. Also present: Clerk: Louise D. Logan Town Treasurer; Lottie R. Runion Supt.Public Works: H. C. Jackson YOUTH DAY: The Mayor stated the purpose of the meeting was `to BASEBALL AT PARR consider the plans of the Woman+s Club for "Youth Day" and proposed contract on baseball at Calfee Park for the coming season. It was advised that current plans for "Youth Dad' to be held March 12, 1952 called for election of municipal of~~.cials i from the Senior Class of the student body of Pulaski High Schgpl, who, on this day, would act as Town officials with counsel from the regular officials, and if possible, that a Council meeting be 'held this date. On motion duly made by W. D. Macgill, Jr., secor~tled by T. F. GtCirt, it was unanimously X©UTH DAY RESOLVED, that the Town shall cooperate with tha Senior Class of the Pulaski High School in having a 'Youth Day on March 12, 1952. ~'IRT TO The Mayor thereupon requested T.F.Wirt to presidb, CHAIR at which time Mr.W`irt took the Chair. CALFEE Mr. Imboden advised that professional baseball dbuld PARK -BASEBALL again be sectared for Pulaski, pending agreement as to terms of~~ a contract. The Superintendent of Public Works stated that ~~.lfee Park repairs would cost approximately X1,100.00, this work of '~. general maintenance nature. On motion duly made by E.T.Painter, seconded Eby I: R. Carper, it was unanimously ', RESOLVED, that the Town shall make necessary rep~.irs REPAIR WORK AT at Calfee Park as outlined by the Superintendent of Public VJox~s, PARK AUTHORIZEDthe cost of this work to be charged to funds available for Ca]~f'ee dark repairs, and further, that a suitable baseball contract h~ prepared by the Town Attorney and the Mayor to be presented fad .~~i; Council Minutes Contd.
