A special meeting of the Town Council of the Town o~'
There were present:
Mayor H. R. Imboden, presiding
Councilmen: 0. 0. Crowell, W.D.Macgill,Jr., J.R.Ma min,
G.R.Steger, T_.F.Wirt.
Absent: E.T.Painter, I.R.Carper, W.F.V1lhite.
Also present:
Town Manager; E. A. Beck
Clerk: Louise D. Logan
Town Attorney: Garnett S. Moore
Supt. of Public Worka: H. C. Jackson
The purpose of the meeting was stated to be to consider

pending building permit applications, proposed concession statfd at
Calfee Park, rental of Calf se Park for the current year, repai~~s
to electric system at Calfee Park, consideration of a Town Manager,
and also setting Council .pay for the next fiscal year.
On motion duly made by 0. 0. Crowell, seconded by T.'.Wirt`
it was unanimously
RESOLVED, that the following applications fcs buil g
permits be granted: To C. N. Tester for one-story six-room f
dwelling south side of Fifth Street, South between Peirce Ave e
and Qraham Street, estimated ~?,000.00; To Fred A. d~ckson fo ~'
one-story four-room & bath, frame dwelling south side of Sth ''
Street, betweenWalnut and Franklin Avenues, estimated ~5,000.~;
To Bernard Harriman (by Fred A. Jackson) for one-story four ra~bm
and bath, frame dwelling on north side of ?th Street, between
Franklin and Walnut Avenues, estimated X5,000.00; To F.P.Flinx um,
Jr., for demolition of present church building on south side
Dora Highway facing Ho11y Street, and construction of one-sto
four-room and bath frame dwelling at same site, estimated X4,0.00;
And To New River Oils, Inc. (by 1r.D. Macgill, Pres. ) for metal'
petroleum bulk plant, four storage tanks, and cinder block p

BUILDING The Mayor stated that Mr. Joe Harman had requested

JOE HpgM~permission to add a cinder block room to the building formerly;
occupied by the Walters Transfer Company on the west side of
Jefferson Avenue, between 2nd and 3rd Streets, N.W., and
remodeling of same. Mr. Harman had advised that a three-year
lease had been secured for this lot.
It was decided that the Building Committee would appove
or disapprove the building permit as outlined above.
On motion duly made by J. R. Martin, seconded by G.F~*
Steger, it was unanimously
CALFEE RESOLVED, that a concession stand, approximately 104

enough to permit unobstructed view from the bleachers, and
that same structure and fixtures attached thereo shall be
permanent, and further, that an amount of ~1,5fl9.Od shall
be appropriated from the General Funds for this work.
On motion duly made by G.R. Steger, seconded
by T. F. Wirt, it was unanimously
RESOLVED, that Calfee Park be rented to the
ball club for a night rental of X35,00 and X15.00 for the day
game, for a minimum of 60 games, Frith the same rental rates to
apply to all exhibition games and playoff games, with the
Town risintaining the park and providing a caretaker.
On motion duly made by T. F. Wirt, seconded
by J.R. Martin, it was unanimously
RESOLVED, that the fee for Councilman shall
be set at X15.00 per month, not based on attendance, said
fee° to be effective September 1, 1952.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:10 p.m.
