13'~C~ Council Minutes Pulaski, Va.,April 24, 1952 SPECIAL A special meeting of the Town Council of the MEETING - Town of Pulaski, Virginia was held in the Municipal Building at 4 p.m., April 24, 1952. - I - - This meeting was a continuation, of the regular semi-monthly meeting held April 22, 19b2. F. ~h3.te, it was unanimously TOV~N ATTORNEY RESOLVED, that the recommendation of the Town PURCHASE Attorney to purchase McQuillan Municipal Corporations, law books, be approved, and further, that an appropriation of Two-Hundred & Fifty (~~50.t~0j Dollars b® made Prom the General Funds for this purchase. RIGHT-OF ~1AY' The pending matter of Right-of-way on Vf®st N~.2ND STREET LAN GSORNE Main Street on property owned by D. Graff Langhorne was reviewed, it being advised that Mr. Langhorne had requested that dues b® eontrolled and the street otherwise improved inasmuch as the public used the same. It was the consensus of the Council that cost of improPa ement and should b® - investigated and further information provided in a report to be submitted to the neat meeting. - On motion duly-made by W. F. White, seconded by T. F. ~firt, it was unanimously CEMETERY RESOLVED, in accordance with previous ACCOUNTS action taken July 31, 1951 charging. off the two Cemetery . White, it was unanimously SALARY ~ RESOLVED, that the special report oP the Finance: REVISION Police Ca~mittee and Councilman Martin in regard to salaries and we,ge Firemen (Vol. ) be accepted, which provided for the following increases retroatltive to April 1, 1952: Chief of Police From 270.00 to ~28b.00 Lieutenant " 245.00 to 270.f~! DRAINAGE In the matter of drainage condition at Fifth 3tr~et FIFTH ~c ib~ASH. and Washington Avenue, North, it was reported that N<r. Joe Hargis, owner of Harris Motor Company, had advised that he would be agreeable -if Fourth Street, N.E. Extension, beside his garage were pave, to the installation of concrete curb and gutter and sid®walk on Mile forth side of Fourth Street, N.W. between Washington and Jeffe#Isora Avenues. The Town Manager advised it was his opinion that pav~g Fourth Street Extension had been withheld until drain eo~ald be #i installed, gad upon checking level at the site, he felt additi~knal engineering surveys advisabl®. Martin, it was unanimously RESOLVED, that purchase of an International Tractor Bull Claim from the Carter Machinery Company, Inc., at a'cost sot to exceed 3,250.00 b® appro ved, providing satisfactory agreement could for this piece of equipment, before July 15, 19.52, and fw be made for this item in the June 30, 1952. Upon discussion and recommendation by the Town Manager, it was the consensus of Council that condensed weekly reports would be submitted to the Council on a trial period, thereby ®liminating much of information -except for statistics and factual data, as presently provided in the monthly report to Council. The matter of filling ditch on west side of ~lashingtoa Avenue bettyeen Fifth and Sixth Street, forth, D 1 L! was referred to the Street Committee for report at the nekt meeting. It was decided that complaints received DUST VIC. This matter was deferred, pending further informations to be presented at the next m®eting. TAX TOBACCO, The Town Manager was directed to secure information ETC. INFO. from nearby towns pertaining to taxing amusements, tobacco ands soft drinks.
