Jackson, second®d by J.L.K~Isling, it was unanimously gIHRIpG RESOLVED, that Sinking Funds in the amount of S®ven Thousand F[iND TRANSFER Two Hundr®d Sixty Eight Dollars 07,268.75) and Seventy-Five Ciints be transferred from a checking account to savings account in t~e Pulaski National Bank. - On motion duly made by I. R. Carper, second®d by W.F.it®, it was unanimously ~i ., A.J.REB~ RESOLVED, that the Town Manager be authorized to negot~ate PROPERTY with Mr. A. J.Reed for procurement of additional land for the wid®ning of a portion of 10th Street, N.W. adjoining Mr. Reedf~l property. 30'U~PH a BR ~A~ PARK On motion duly made by J. L. Keeling, seconded by J.R.artin„ it was unanimously RESOLVED, that an appropriation of Two Hundred & Fifty 0250.00) Dollars from the General Funds be approved for the p~rpose of the construction of a concrete slab roadway and sidewalk onjthe South Jefferson Avenue bridge. Jackson, seconded by I.R.~arper,~ it was unanimously RESOLVED, that work by the town on the reconstruction off a bandstand in the First Street Park be postphon®d pending deeison by the Chamber of Commerce regarding certain plans which they e. presently have and®r studyl m. On motion duly made by J.R.Martin, seconded by I.R.Car,~er, it was unanimously RECOIA'~I8a3 ~ RESOLVED, that the recommendations of theTown Manager ~n i3E. TRAFFTO COTSSreply to a letter of the Traffic Safety Committee of th® Pulas i Chamber of Commerce be accepted, and that a letter setting for, ti~~~ Council Minutes~Conttd. Pulaski, Va.,3ept. 11, 1952 those recommendations be forwarded to the Chamber of Commerce committee and a copy of same be retained in the files of the town. On motion duly made by W. F, White, seconded ,by J. R. Martin, it was unanimously STOP SI aX RESOLVED, that a stop sign be erected on Prospect PROSPECT - AVENUB Avenv,e at its intersection with .Eighth Street, N.~, on the east side of Eighth ~3'treet, N.~li', C,~e,P. The Town Manager presented to .the Town Council RATS ~~~$ a report from the League of Virginia Municipalities in regard to the proposed rate increase by the Chesapeake and Potomac Te]~ephone Company, which report asks whether the Town desired to indicate an interest to participate. in a protest to this rate increase. This matter was deferred to a future date. On motion duly made by C.V.Jackson, seconded by N!'. F. Whit®, it was unanimously _ PF~AK RESOLVID, that an appropriation be approved for ~G'~tSSiC $RIDt~ investigation and development of preliminary studies for the improvement of the Peak Creek bridge in West Pulaski which crosses 2nd Street at its intersection with 3rd Street.. On motion duly made by ~i1. F. White, seconded by J. R. Martin, it was unanimously APP~OP. RESOLVED, that an appropriation be approved in the - S~[PL~OY'~ + PICNIC amount of Forty-Three Dollars ($43.24) and Twenty-Four Cents to cover the cost of an. employees ~ picnic held at Calfee Park oa September 10, 1952. ~+ The Town Manager presented a proposal for the PAY payment to weekly town employees of overtime wages commensurate with such work as they would necessarily be called upon to perform in the service of the town. Considerable discussion was given to this proposal and it was deferred for future study. LIB The matter of the extension of water facilities de FLAI~TA4A~f _ , by Messrs. Linkous and Flannigan to their property on the best side of Peppers Ferry Road was again brought before the Council by several members of the Council who indicated that Messrs. Linkous and Flannagan had indicate that the required construction of 6" water line on their property would constitute a financial hardship on them. On motion duly made by W. F. @Ihite, seconded by C.V.Ja~#kson, it was unanimously RESOLVED, that the action of the Town Council in a meeing on September 9, 1952 in regard to the extens ion of water servile line to the Linkous and Flannagan property be rescinded and thin Messrs. Linkous and Flannagan be required to install at their expense a 2~ water line which would lead from the 6" main exis~ing on Pepppers Ferry Road, through such principal streets as may ate led out in the aforementioned properties of Messrs. Linkous and Flannagan, and Be It Further Resolved, that at their expense shall make necessar Road of the 2~ water line, and shall expenses incurred by the town in the Messrs. Linkous and Flanngan ~ crossing of Peppers Ferx°~I #; _ reimburse the town for and connection of the 2" wate!? line with the 6" main, and Be It Further Resolved, that the installation of the welter line upon. the property of Messrs. Linkous and Flannagan shall die under the supervision of the proper officials of the Town and upon completion of the construction of the water line, the same shall became the property of the Town of Pulaski. ~, On motion duly made by W. HI{~ SCH~4L Be It Further Resolved, that the Pulaski High School b~ USE OF PARK granted use of Calfee Park at no charge with exception of the of orementioned concession stand during the football season, an that the high school pay the cost of electricity plus lights and bu~bs, ~i and reseed the field and place it in as good a condition upon ~! completion of the football season.
