Council Minutes ,- s- 1~~3 Pulaski, Va., July 11, x;950 The regular monthly meeting of the Town Council of the Town ~ Pulaski, Virginia was held in the Municipal BLiilding`:~at 4:00 p.m., July 11, 1950. POSTPHONED This meeting was postphoned by action taken by~!the A~EETING Council on July ~, 1950 and signed agreement by a majority o~ the Council, said agreement filed in the Town files. PRESENT There were present: Mayor Marvin G. Graham, presiding °' Councilmen: I. R. Carper, 0. 0. Crowell, G.R.teger~ H. R. Imboden, W. F. White. ~` Absent: O'Neal Amos, W. D. Aust, T. F. Wit. On motion duly made by H. R. Imboden, seconded by I. R. Carper, it was unanimously RESOLVID~ that the matter be referred to the T~,rn Manager and the Street Committee for a report. COMNIERC$,. Mr. John McGaughy, engineer for the Commerce Street Rp~ p Bridge Project, reported to the Council that this work was c~tn- FINAL REPORT pleted. It was reported that final settlement with the cont#Ia.etor was in the amount of ~2~+,~09.00, against the original bid priice of X25,901.00, the total cost of the project including water life ~~ changes, engineering fees, watchman services to Norfolk and i~leestern Railway Company's signal line, and other charges which amoun~~ed to ~2 9 ~ 450.00. _~ On motion duly made by I. L. Reynolds for addition of two rooms 12x12 concrete block to store building on north side which is located on the west side of Pine Streets estimated to cost X500.00; To Clara R. Bhllinger (by Jean B. Sharp) for addition of one roomy frame, to residence on west side of Valley Streets between Pulaski Street and Pulaski Terraces estimated ~'S00.00. It was reported that the Roanoke Coca-Cola Bottling Works intended to remove the old scoreboard at Calfee Parks and to erect a new electrified board at the location of the newly constructed fences the scoreboard to belong to the Towns to be for the benefit of the public. The Town Attorney reported on the work being done toward compiling lists of delinquent taxes for prior years and the procedure to be followed in filing lists. On motion duly made by A. R. Imboden~ seconded by 0. 0. Crowell it was unanimously RESOLVID~ that the certified revised list of the Town Treasurer for the year 19-8, showing the remaining delinquent • accepted, and it is ordered that a copy of this list taxes be be transmitted to the Clerk of the Circuit Courts to be filed and the Treasurer is further directed to continue to proceed to collect the taxes listed thereon. It was suggested that the cost of replaci~.g the regulations so as not these name plates would be one dollar per meter. ,~ On motion of W. F. White, seconded by 0. 0. C~owell~ it was unanimously RESOLVID~ that the proposal of Adams & Tate C~n- ~i struction Company to furnish and place plant mix on Main Sheet ;; between Washington and Jefferson Avenues, and on south Washington; Avenue between the Norfolk and Western Right-of-way and Fir'~t Streets as recommended by the Town Manager, at a price of Sven r~ Dollars and Sixty Five Cents 07.65) per ton, be accepted. The Town Manager reported that the sece+ond Com~erce Street bridge was in need of repairs, including painting ar n4 general overhauling. T CONTROL It was reported that a tank of dust repellent oil had been ordered and that the alleys behind Harrison- Hancock Hardware Company, Inc. and adjacent to the Pulaski High School would be included among those on which oil would be placed. UTHERFORD The matter of a sidewalk and curb cuts in ONTIAC CO B Ct7TS,ETC . front of Rutherford Pontiac (b mpany on Washington Avenue between Fifth and Fourth Streets was discussed, and it was decided that permission would be given for the contractor to ur~d ertake the work o n the Rutherford garage to pour the sidewalk and make the entrance drives, this work to be done under the supervision of the Town, and in accordance with the Town's specifications for concrete work, and further, in event it is possible that all of the property owners in the block between Fourth and Fifth Streets are agreeable to paying one-half of. the cost of the sidewalk, the Town AL SECOND STREET EXTEi~SSON PARKING NEAR FIRST METHODIST CHIIRC$ would undertake the work, in which event, the concrete work would be done by the Town forces. It was reported that there had not been received any rental from the airport lease for the past two quarters, and that another quarter would be due July 13 . It was reported that D. Gray Langhorne had erected signs on Second Street Extension between Magazine Street and Altoona. Road stating that same was a private Right-of way. The matter was referred to the Town Attorney.
