Council Minutes - Pulaski, Virginia, June 11, 1948
SPECIAL
I SESSION
The Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia met in
special session in the Mayorts Office at 3:45 P. M., June
11, 1948.
PRESENT There were present: Mayor A. T. Eskridge, presiding;
Verna L. Dalton, Clerk; A. W. Gatewood, Director of Public
Works; Hank Neighbors, Jr., Business Manager of the Pulaski
Counts, Inc., and Councilmen: T. F. Wirt, Howard R. Imboden,
I. R.~Carper, W. D. Aust and W. F. White. Absent: C. V.
Jackson, F. A. Seagle and G. C. Hall.
CALFEE Councilman Howard R. Imboden stated that immediately

prior to the called meeting the Public Property Committee had
met with representatives of the Pulaski Counts, Inc., viz. Mr.
Imboden, T. F. Wirt and Hank Neighbors, Jr., in an effort to.
reach some conclusion to the problem of the publics free wit-
nessing of ball games, and had agreed that some action should
be taken to restrict parking in the immediate vicinity of
Calfe~e Park.
NO PARKING ~ Upon discussion, on motion of T. F. Wirt, seconded

by W.~F. Whit®, and unanimously approved, the Council authorized
that no parking be allowed at the following locations - the
restricted parking to be in force twenty-four hours per day:
No Parking either side of Floyd Avenue 200 feet •
North from the intersection of Floyd Avenue
and Washington Avenue.
No Parking on South side of Fifth Street between
Floyd Avenue and the Entrance to Calfee Park.
• No Parking from the Corporate limits on either
side of Washington Avenue to the intersection
- of Washington Avenue and Crest Line Drive.
CALFEE PARK - The matter of a fence at the park was again discussed

-Agreement at length, whereupon it was agreed that the Town would grant
a free- rental of five gears to the General Outdoor Advertising
Company for a signboard on theSouthwest side of the park, on
the Esst side of Floyd Avenue - the Town to cut back part of
the bank which obstructed view of the signboard, and the
Pulaski Counts, Inc. to donate an amount not exceeding Txo
Hundred Fifty Dollars (250.00) for a cover to the framework
to be -erected by the General Outdoor Advertising Company.

and that it would require several months to have an order filled
but advised he would investigate temporary measures until signs +~Mrere
available.
There being no further business to act upon, the Counc~l
