C. BR~~iER Bill iN. D.Ii®LL met in regular session tonight at 7:30 at the hayorts office. There were present: Eayor ~. T. Eskridge, presiding; Lottie R. Runion, clerk; a. ~. Gatewood, director of public works; H. C. Taylor, treasurer; ~. C. Pierce, chief of police, and Councilmen: 0. F. Jordan, Jr., T. F. Wirt, Howard n. jmboden, YY. F. i~hite, F'. ~. Seagle, I. R. Carper, ~. H. xust and G. C. Hall. Absent: None. The minutes of tine regular .ng held on Kpril 3, 1945 were read .and approved. The regular bills €ind payrolls for the month of xpril were read, and on motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, were approved and ordered paid. Said bills are given at the conclusion of these minutes. The following building permits, coming within the requirements of the ordinance mere granted: to yrs. S. F. Johnson .aCo~~replace a frame porch on residence on the west side of hadison Ave., between 1st and 2nd streets 5. E/ to cost ~200.U0; qtrs. S. 5. Davis for a frs~e meat house on the north side of 4th street, East Pulaski, to cost ~V25.00. iti. J. Askew was granted a permit to dump dart on honroe Ave., from a basement which is proposed to be dug at his residence on the west side of a-onroe Ave. ~~ ~. .~ submitted the police report for the month of April, which was read and ordered filed. ~~ A bill presented by C. C. Brewer dated April 14; for iP25.U0, covering Pee for prosecution of B. L. Irvin for violation of Town Ordinance, appealed from Police Court to the Circuit Court, was laid on the tabl®. W. D. Hall appweared before the Council in regard to his previous request to the Council to provide an entrance to his property on Valley St., between lst and 2nd streets, b. Quesenberry, Pastor of the Pentecostal ~uesenberry Drainage Church of God located at 243 - 1st St. S. E., presented Complaint a request that a drainage situation be corrected to prevent water running into the,~property. On motion duly made seconded and unanimously passed, the matter was referred to the director of public works for investiga~- tion. PETITION ~ peti~stion presented by'certain employees of E&-PLOYEES the town, requesting a weeks vacation with pay each year, and Uld Age Pension Benifit, was referred to the finance committee for investigation. VETERkNS The matter of a .plan for the establishment of ~ IT~FOIi~ATION „Veterans.'. Information and Service Center" in Pulaski, CENTER brought before the Council at its April meeting and referred to a committee for investigation was discussed, and the committee continued. LTGT3T In the matter of request for a light on Commerce COB~ERCF ST.Street referred to the light committee at the March meetinj, I, H. Carper, chairman, reported that the light had been installed, west of the first N. & iti. bridge. ~~TETt Tn the matter of purging the water books of un- BOOKS PURGED collectible accounts, the finance committee reported that they had met and gone over these, and made the following rv' recommendations to the Council: (1) Disputed water rents and out of date water rents to the amount of X22,741.00 be purged from tht current books, with the understanding, however, that a list will be kept of these water rents and collected if possible. (a) V~here a person i.s renting a property, before the service is connected, the owner of the property will be required to sign an agreement that he will be responsible for the water rent of that particular tennant. l~'n~:~ event the property owner refuses to sign the agreement, then the tennsnt will be required to make a deposit, covering the amount of the service for one quarter. ~5) This report is not to be published in the Sou.,thwesat Times. In tb.e matter of a petition for improvements to Pine St., S. W., presented at the epril.3rd meeting of the Council and referred to the sheet committee for inves- tigation. The committee reported that they, with the director of public works, had gone on the ground , and recommended a dart street graded on Fine St., between First St. and martin bve., with the provision that the necessary width be furnished by the property owners.' On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed 'the recommendations of the committ®e were approved. In the matter of the petition for sewage line on Pine St. 5. ~i., presented at the April meeting. Imbod~ and unanimously passed, the Council authorized the instaly~- tion of approximately 15U0 feet of 2" water line on the south side of Peak Creek in the vicinity of Clark St. S.
