3s~ Council T~inutes Pulaski, Va., April 7, 1942 The Council of the Town of Pulaski met in monthly PP~F'SENT :MINUTES BILLS & PAYROLLS BUILDING PEF1,iIITS PETITION RnAD Y1EST CORP LILiITS session tonight at 7:~0 at the mayor's office. There were present: mayor E. W. Calfee, presiding; Lottie R. Runion, clerk; ti. rr. Gatewood, Director of Bublic ruorks, and Councilmen: A. T. Eskridge, T. J. V~allner, L. E. ~;hitesell, J. E. Bunts, F. A. Seagle, T. L. James and G. C. Hall. Absent: A. iu~. Bushong. The minutes of the regular meeting held on March Ord, 1942 were read and approved. The regular `ills and payrolls for the month of I~~arch were audited, approved and ordered paid. Said bills are given at the conclusion of these minutes. The following building permits, cawing within the requirements of the ordinance were granted: J. VAT. Slaughter for one-story frame dwelling on the south side of 5th St. S. E. between V'lashington and Iuadison Avenues, South, to cost X3000.00; J. C. Sasher for two one-story frame and concrete dwellings on the west side of ~Cadison Avenue, South between 4th and 5th streets , to cost X2500.00 each, and one one-story frame dwelling do same street to cost X2,000.00; Fred ~;. Jackson for one-story frame dwelling on the north side of 5th St. S. E. be- tween Floyd and Madison Avenues So., to cost x'2500.00; and one-story frame dwelling on the west side of Madison A.ve., So., at 5th St.,~between Floyd and i~adison avenues~to cost X2500.00; Geo. T. Hitch for an addition to asbestos siding dwelling on the south side of 7th St. N. Y~. between Jefferson and Randolph avenuen, to cost r~1500.00; James V. Covey for one=story frame dwelling on the north side of Chestnut st at Martin Ave., S.y`a. to cost xi600.00; R. G. Cornett for one-story frame dwelling near the west corporate limits to cost w700.00. R. i. Brown, representing a group of citizens, appeared before the Council requesting the establishm8nt of a roGd near the western corporate li.nits of the Town. Pulp: ski, Va . , t~pril 7, 1942 PETITION A petition from citizens residing on Magazine Street, STREET Tequesting the installation of a street light on said street LIGHT MAGAZIN was presented, and on motion duly made, seconded and unanimously ST. passed, the matter was referred to the Licht committee with 1 1 1 power to act. John W. B. Deeds, attorney for the Pulaski Baseball PETIT ION BASE- Club appeared before the Council requesting the amendment to BALL CLUB the contract between the Council and the Baseball Club, by which SUN- they would be allowed to charge admission fees for baseball DAY games played on Sundays. On motion of T. J. Wallner, seconded AD~iI S- SIONS by T. L, James on the following recorded vote: Ayes, T. J. jJv;~llner, L. E. t~ahitesell, J. E. Bunts, F. A. 5eugle, T. L. James. Noes= i~. T. Eskridge and G. C. Hall -- the contract was amended, permitting the charging of admission on Sunday, it being understood that the Council was not undertaking to legalize the playing of baseball and charging admission on Sunday, but merely amending the contract existing between the Town and the Club. The Club stated thct they would give 25~I of the net proceeds of Sunday games to any local charitable organization suggested by the officials of the Town. PETITION Action was deferred on the petition of the Pulaski PUL~:SKI LAUNDRY Laundry ~ Dry Cleaners requesting a parking zone in front of Parking their plant for loading and unloading. Zone.
