Council minutes Pulaski, Virginia, October 27,942
SPECIAL The Council of the Town of Pulaski met in special ses9ion
BflEETING
today at 2:00 P. ~. at the B~ayor's office.
There were present: Lottie R. Runion, Clerk, and CounCil-
PRESENT
men A.T. Eskridge, L. E. Whitesell, J. E. Bunts, 0. P. Jordan..,
F.A.Seagle, T. L. James, G. C. Hall and A. ~~.Bushong.

On motion of F.A. Seagle, seconded by T. L. James,
Councilman K.T. Eskridge was elected to preside over the meeting.
On further motion of T. L. James, seconded by 0. P.
Gordan, and unanimously passed, fir. A. T. Eskridge was elected
Acting Mayor until a successor to Mayor Calfee was elected.
RESOLU- Mr.Eskridge stated that the meeting had been called

E.1~J.CALFEE The following resolutions were offered by the committee,
Oct.27,1942
and on motion duly made, seconded were unanimously adopted.
WHEREAS, in the death of Ernest W. Calfee, the Town

of Pulaski and the community at large has lost a most loyal,
faithful and conscientious public official; and
WHEREAS, he gave unstintedly of his time, energy and
ability to the best interest of the Town, serving as Councilman
and Mayor with great devotion and fidelity for a period of
thirty years; and,
WHEREAS, he has spent his entire life in Pulaski and
given his best talents and services toward the promotion of
the highest interests and welfare of this community; and
WHEREAS, his death is an irreparable loss to his tow~i

and host of friends; and
VG~iEREtiS, the members of this Council feel a very deep

personal loss of a true and faithful colleague and able
executive.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a copy of these
resolutions be spread upon the minutes of this Council, a
copy supplied to his immediate relatives and a copy published
in the Southwest Times.
