1.32 Council Minutes Pulaski, January 2, 1940 The Council of the Town of Pulaski met in monthly PRESENT MINUTES BILLS & PAYROLLS BUILDING PERMITS PETITION. SIDEWALK J.L.Jamison APPOINT- MENT 2 MEMBERS FIRE DEPT. APPROVAL CONSTITU- TION & BY- LAti"~S FIRE DEPT. 5~ PENALTY 1939 TAXES session tonight at 7:30 at the Mayor's office. There were present: Mayor E. W. Calfee, presiding, Lottie R. Runion, clerk, A. W. Gatewood, director of public works and Councilmen: A. T. Eskridge, L. E. Whitesell, J. E. Bunts, F. A. Seagle, T. L. James, A. Bd. Bushong and G. C. Hall. Absent: T. J. Wallner. The minutes of the regular meeting held on December 5, 1939 were read and approved. A detailed statement of the regular bills and payrolls for the month of December was audited, approved and on motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, ordered paid.. Said bills are given at the conclusion of these minutes. The following building permlts, coming within the requirements of the ordinance were granted: T. Virgil Richardson for a one-story frame dwelling on the corner of Franklin Ave. and 6th Street, East~Pulaski, to cost _.. ~1~00.00; to Fred.,-.A.--Jackson for a one-story frame dwelling on the east side of Hickory Xve., two blocks east of Pico Terrace School, to cost ~1,000.OO;.to Mrs. nary Y.Pickett for a one-story frame dwelling on the east side of Magazine Street, Altoona Heights, to cost $900.00. A petition of J. L. Jam3;son requesting the con- struction of a concrete sidewalk 185 feet long on First St., South, adjacent to his property, eras referred to the Street Committee for investigation and report. Two members recently appointed to the Fire De- partment, having failed to qualify, M. C. Spgnaler and L. A. Sharpe were elected to, fill the vacancies. The constitution, by-laws, rules and regulations of the newly re-organized Volunteer "ire Department. were approved. On motion duly made, seconded and unaninncusly passed, the addition of 5 per cent penalty was ordered on all unpaid 1939 taxes as of February. 1, 1940.
