Citizens and property owners on Stuart Avenue, PETITION WATER locust Hill presented a petition for water on the east end STUART °f said Stuart Ave., and, upon motion duly made, seconded AVE. and unanimously passed, this was referred to Pdr. A. W. Gatewood, director of public works for estimate. In the matter of a petition presented at the January PETITION LEXINGTON 7, 1941 meeting by citizens and property owners, living on AVE S0. and in the vicinity of Lexington Avenue and 2nd and 3rd streets, IMPVS. south,re~uesting the Council to open up Lexington Avenue for a distance of approximately 50 feet. Upon rec~fommendation of tYie street committee, this petition was granted. APPROPRT- On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, ATION 4~lATER the Council made an appropriation of X3,000.00 for the LINE extension of water lines to serve the new Defense Housing DEFENSE HOUSING Project on the land of C. F. ~dacgill, adjacent to the corporate PROJECT limits of Pulaski- said water line to extend to the corporate limits and the Government to connect at that point. (cont'd) 2 ~ 1 Council Minutes Contd. Gatewood, Director of Public ~Jorks submitt 3rd ST NE a revised estimste on the cost of building concrete pavement on East 3rd Street, between a point 205 feet east of the east end bridge and I~~alnut Avenue, this estimate to cover pavement 685 x 24~ x 9" - 7" thickness, without curb, at a cost of approximately ~v6,976.22. On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, the Council authorized this work and authorized the advertisi g for bids . Wallner, SUBMITTE BY T J submitted in his absence, calling attention to some matters Wallner which he deemed important for the Council to eo~s~c~en, and these matters as set forth in the letter were fully discussed,, SEWER In regard to the sewerage on the west side of I 12th & 1 Randolph Avenue, it was the opinion of the Council that ~ ~~ St. West ~ - ~! Randolph ~~"~'n°as be included in the proposed WP A Project. Ave. With reference to the sidewalk on Fifth Street, SIDEWALK along the propert~.es of Mrs. Constance iideredith and White & 5th ST N. Glenn, the Council agreed to do this work as soon as possible, the property owners to pay 1/2 the cost of the sidewalk. In regard to the enclosure of the porch on the Leftwic building on Commerce Street, the Council held that this was without their Jurisdiction, in view of its being on private property. ACCEPTAATCE TO THE COIINCIL OF THE TOWN 0F' PULASRI, PULA5RI COUAiTY, VIRGINIA. 1PHEREAS, cn or about the 15th day of April, 1941, the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, passed an ordinance granting to: APPALACHIAN ELECTRIC POWER COMPADiY, its successors and assigns, the right, privilege, franchise and authority to acquire, construct, maintain and operate in, above, under, across and along the streets, thoroughfares, allays, bridges and public places (as the same now exist or may hereafter be laid out) of the Town of Pulaski, lines for the distribution of electric energy, either by means of over- . head or underground conductors, with all necessary or desirable appurtenances, for the purpose of supplying electric energy to said Town and the inhabitants thereof, and parsons or corporations beyond the limits thereof, for light, heat, power or any other purpose or purposes for which electric energy is now or may hereafter be used, and for the transmission of the same through or across said Town. and WHEREAS, the undersigned, Appalachian Electric Power Company is willing to accept said ordinance in aceor- dance with the terms and conditions therein set forth, NOW, T$EREF ORE, ^, .. The said Appalachian Electric Power Company hereby assents to and accepts the terms and conditions of said ordinanoa and agrees to be bound and abide by said terms and conditions as in said ordinance sat forth.
