PRESENT There were present: Mayor E. «. Calfee, presiding, Lottie R. Bunion, clerk, A. YJ. Gatewood, director of public works, and Councilmen: A. T. Eskridge, L. E. I~~hitesell, F. A. Seagie, T. L. James and G. C. Hall. Absent: A. M. Bushong, J. E. Bunts and T. J. V~allner. MINUTES The minutes of the regular meeting held on July 15th were read and approved. BILLS & The regular bills and paylblls for the month of PAYROLLS July were audited, approved and ordered paid. Said bills are given.. at the .conclusion of these minutes. The following building permits, coming within BUILDING PEFt;~ITS the requirements of the ordinance, were granted: To ~drs. myrtle H. Bocock for ~-story brick dwelling on the east side of Maple Shade inn- "Bowling Court"- to cost ~v7,000.00; H. G. Hall, Jr., for one-story frame dwelling on the west side of Washington Ave., South between 6th and 7th streets, S. E. to~cost X3,300.00; Millos Tassos for extension to the concrete block building of ~'. C. W., to cost X10.00. 1 STREET On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed,: PAVING the Council authorized the paving of the following streets: 12th St. N. ~+., between Prospect and Randolph avenues at a cost of X2455.00; Third Street South between ~tiashington and Madison avenues to cost X3466.00; Sixth Street South, between Y'Jashington and Madison Avenues to cost 1,175.50- These streets to be unproved with macadam roadway and curb and gutter. AUDITOR On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously EMPLOYED passed, the Council authorized the employment of James P. Miller, certified public accountant, to audit the town books for the year ending August 31st, 1941. i On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously pas•sec the following ordinance was adopted: PARKING ~ AN ORDINtiNCE TO REGSLATE TriE OPERr~TION AND PARKING ORL'INA~ICE/~~ VEHICLES ON THE PUBLIC STREETS, HIGHG'rAYS AND ALLEYWAYS IN HE TOWN OF PULhSKI VIRGINIA, t~ND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLtiTION OF TH~S ORDINANCE. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the ORDINANCE Town of Pulaski, Virginia, that it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to park an automobile, truck or other vehicle::in the following designated alleys of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, to-wit: In any of the public alleys in the Town of Pulaski, Virginia embraced within the area bounded on the 4~Jest by Randolph Avenue, on the North by Fourth Street, North, on the East by Madison Avenue, forth, and on the South by Peak Creek. Section 2. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to park any automobile, truck or other vehicle in front of the entrance to any theatre in the Town of Pulaski, between the hours of 12:00 otclock noon and 11:00 P. M. Section 3. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that it shall ~ be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to park any automobile, truck or other vehicle on the North side of Commerce Street, between Valley Street and i~Jashington Avenue. Section 4. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that it shall be unlawful for any person, driving an automobile, truck or other vehicle to make a left turn at the intersection of 2nd Street, j`~orth and Y~ashington Avenue. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than One 01.00) Dollar nox more than Five (~~5.00) Dollars, and every violation shall constitute a separ~4te offense. Section 6. ALL ORDIPdANCES or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall become in full force and effect on and after the 25th day of August, 1941. 305 Council Minutes Contd.
