Authorizing Grant Application to the Environmental Protection Agency fora 2009 Community-Wide
Brownfield Assessment Grant
WHEREAS, in accordance with the guidelines of the Environmental Protection Agency, it is necessary
that a request by resolution be received from local government authorizing the submission of grant
funds;
WHEREAS, Draper Aden Associates has coordinated planning efforts since February 2008 with the
Town's Economic Development Board to establish overall goals, objectives, and strategic initiatives for
the project;
WHEREAS, the Economic Development Board has reviewed drafts, made suggestions about possible
reuse of brownfield areas, and identified partners and community-based organization that might
support the redevelopment of former industrial areas;
AND WHEREAS, the Town of Pulaski looks ahead to insure the prosperity and safety of future
generations;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town Council for the Town of Pulaski, Virginia sitting in
session on October 7, 2008 that the Town authorizes its Town Manager to submit a grant on its behalf
to EPA for the purpose of assessing former industrial sites.
This resolution is effective upon adoption and is adopted this 7th day of October 2008 by the duly
recorded vote of the Town Council as follows:
