There were present: Mayor John A. Johnston, presiding Council Members: James M. Neblett, Lane R. Penn, Charles W. Stewart Gerald Bolen, Joseph L. Weddle, Pauline G. Mitchell Absent: Bettye H. Steger, W. Edgar Hale Also Present: Frank Terwilliger, Town Attorney Thomas M. Combiths, Town Manager David N. Quesenberry, Assistant to the Town Manager Patricia Pendergrast, Acting Clerk Visitors: J. R. Schrader, News Media The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnston. Councilman Penn led the Pledge of Allegiance and Councilman Neblett gave the Invocation. Councilman Neblett made a motion that Patricia Pendergrast be appointed Acting Clerk, seconded by Coucilman Penn and so carried. ~ ~ Councilman Stewart made a motion that Planning Commission case 97-75SUB, from Lucas PLANNING Construction Company, for the subdivision of 3.41 acres across from Critzer Elementary and 97- C~MI~~SION 76CU, a request from Findlay Industries for a conditional use permit to locate warehousing and light manufacturing at 1040 East Main Street be referred to Planning Commission seconded by Councilman Weddle and carried on the following recorded vote: Mr. Neblett -Aye Mr. Hale -Absent Mr. Penn -Aye Mr. Weddle -Aye Mrs. Steger -Absent Mrs. Mitchell -Aye Mr Stewart -Aye Mr. Bolen -Absent At 7:40 a.m., Council entered irrto executive session on 2.1-344 (A7), consult with Legal Counsel regarding Baseball negotiations; (Al) Personnel Matter- specific individual (Finance Department); and (A3) Economic Development -Land Acquisition on motion made by Councilman Neblett, seconded by Councilman Penn and carried on the following recorded vote: Mr. Neblett -Aye Mr. Penn -Aye Mrs. Steger -Absent Mr. Stewart -Aye Mr. Hale -Absent Mr. Weddle -Aye Mrs. Mitchell -Aye Mr. Bolen -Absent At 7:41 a.m., Councilman Hale arrived at the meeting, leaving after executive session. At 9:05 a.m., Council returned to special session and adopted Certification Resolution on motion made by Councilman Stewart, seconded by Councilman Penn and tamed on the following recorded vote: Mr. Neblett -Aye Mr. Hale - Abserrt Mr. Penn -Aye Mr. Weddle -Aye Mrs. Steger -Absent Mrs. Mitchell -Aye Mr. Stewart -Aye Mr. Bolen -Absent At 9:06 a.m., Councilman Neblett so moved that Council adjourn, seconded by Councilman Penn and carried.
