There were present:. Mayor Gary C. Hancock, presiding Councilmembers: Andrew 1. Graham, W. H. Schrader, Mary Lou Copenhaver Ira S. Crawford, James M. Neblett Also present: Frank Terwilliger, Town Attorney D. E. McKeever, Town Manager Anne Burgess, Assistant Town Manager Ruth A. Harrell Clerk Visitors: Dee Lindsey and Bob Thomas of the news media The invocation was given by Councilman Neblett. Councilman Neblett made a motion that ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Crawford and carried on the following recorded vote r John A. Johnston - Absent James R. Neblett - Aye Mary Lou Copenhaver -Aye MAIN STREET August 27, 1987 8263 ORDINANCE CONFIRMING THE PURCHASE OF THE ARGONNE BUILDING BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, that the Town's purchase of property on East Main Street in the Town of Pulaski, known as the Argonne Building, be and hereby is confirmed and approved. The purchase price of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) with five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) down and twenty thousand dollars ($L0,000.00) deferred until January L4, 1988, is ratified as an obligation of the Town. The Town Manager is authorized to begin procuring a contract for the demolition of the building on the property and is directed to determine whether time restraints exist that make competitive bidding or negotiation impractical or fiscally disadvantageous. This ordinance is adopted this 27th day of August, 1987, with the Council sitting in special session by recorded vote.
