Minutes of the special meeting of the Pulaski Town Council held February 24, 1986,
at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers in the Municipal Building.

WAIVER OF NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING

We, the undersigned, duly elected members of the Council of the Town ~
of Pulaski, Virginia, hereby waive notice of a Special Meeting of said
Council at 9:00 a.m., on the 24th day of February, 1986, for the purpose
r
of presentation and signing of a Proclamation honoring the 100th Anniversary
of the Town of Pulaski. `'

The purpose of the special meeting was presentation and signing of a proclamation
honoring the 100th anniversary of the Town of Pulaski.
Mayor Hancock stated we had concluded an exciting weekend for Pulaski. We
shared our memories of the past yesterday and took a major step to preserve and
create a showplace for the treasures of our Pulaski heritage. He further stated
this morning is a special day for two reasons. Today is Pulaski's 100th birthday
and also we are honored to have present Pulaski leaders who helped through the years
to steer a positive and progressive course which was Pulaski's first 100 years. He
joined Council in welcoming the past members of Council that were present.
Mayor Hancock expressed his appreciation to Vicki Futrell, Chairwoman of the
Centennial Committee, the Centennial Committee, Virginia Kelly, Danny Grubb, Roy
D'Ardenne, Eloise Vass, Dan McKeever, Anne Burgess, Brigitte Manning, and all those
employees and citizens who worked on the Raymond F. Ratcliffe Memorial Museum and
the ..special events over the weekend.
Mayor Hancock presented and read Proclamation honoring the 100th anniversary
of the Town of Pulaski.
Eouncilman Crawford so moved that Proclamation be received and filed, to be
included in the Permanent Minute Book, seconded by Councilman Boyd. Councilman Aust
stated all of Council seconds this motion. Motion then carried.

OF THE TOWN OF PULASKI, VIRGINIA

WHEREAS, on February 24, 1$86, the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, was officially
incorporated, established, and Chartered; and
WHEREAS, said Town of Pulaski has enjoyed a century of continuing growth and
prosperity for which its citizens have been and continue to be thankful; and,
WHEREAS, the one hundred year anniversary of the founding of the Town of
Pulaski is an appropriate time not only for each citizen to reflect upon and
be thankful for the rich and colorful history of Pulaski, but also for each
citizen to Look forward to a new century in which to reaffirm, rekindle and renew
that spirit that makes the Town of Pulaski a unique and desirable place to live;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED by the Honorable Gary C. Hancock,
Mayor, acting at the request of the undersigned members of the Town Council,
that February 24, 19$6, be and hereby is recognized a.s the Centennial Day of
the Town of Pulaski, Virginia, and,
Be it further Proclaimed that this day should be a day on which to celebrate
the prosperity and good fortune enjoyed by the Town's citizens over its first
One Hundred Years; and,
Be it further Proclaimed that this day should also be and hereby is
honored a.s the day on which the Town of Pulaski begins a New Century, with a
New Spirit and a determination that this community will continue to grow and
prosper and be a fine place in which to live.
These things are proclaimed this 24th day of February, 19$6, at a Special
Session of the Town Council of the Town of Pulaski, Virginia.

Past Members of Council introduced themselves and gate date of their term.
The Town of Pulaski Department Heads also introduced themselves.
Mayor Hancock stated the Town is what the past members of Council have made
it and the future Councils will keep it in good order.
At 9:25 a.m., Councilman Neblett made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Councilman
Boyd and carried.
